Should the Flames target a RW via free agency?
With Elliot's very respectable cap hit at $2.5, do the Flames target a free agent RW to play on the top or second line or perhaps trade for one? (Assuming we play Frolik on line 3 and Bennett plays C)
Gaudreau-Monahan-XXX
Tkachuk-Bennett-XXX
Ferland-Backlund-Frolik
Notable RW FA's
Loui Eriksson ($4.25) cap hit in 2015/2016 - Age 30 - Shoots Left
Kyle Okposo ($2.80) cap hit in 2015/2016 - Age 28 - Shoots Right
Chirs Stewart ($1.70) cap hit in 2015/2016 - Age 28 - Shoots Right
Steve Downie ($1.75) cap hit in 2015/2016 - Age 29 - Shoots Right
Troy Brouwer ($3.66) cap hit in 2015/2016 - Age 30 - Shoots Right
David Backes ($4.50) cap hit in 2015/2016 - Age 32 - Shoots Right
Then of course there is Lucic who does play LW naturally.
Milan Lucic ($6.00) cap hit in 2015/2016 - Age 28 - Shoots Left
Thoughts?

For sure.
Okposo! I've been saying it all along.

Put Gaudreau on the off-wing, sign Lucic.

My bet is they go after Lucic.
Here is a player that is pretty exactly what Flames brass keeps saying they need. Big, mean, can play top six and score, and he's still young enough to contribute for many more years (IMO).
Johnny is smart enough to play RW of need be.

Loui Eriksson, Milan Lucic, David Perron, David Backes, Troy Brouwer, Mikkel Boedker, Kyle Okposo, Jamie McGinn for UFA. Kevin Hayes, Chris Kreider, Valeri Nichushkin for trades. Hopefully we can nab someone good. We need another winger for sure.

Put WIdeman there with Bennett and Frolik >_>
To save money until next year where we actually have cap space to sign a RWer.

Okposo would be awesome. Still hope Lucic goes somewhere else because of the contract he'll be seeking.

Backes would work too. He would slot in as the first line RW.
Brouwer would make a decent 2/3rd line RW.

Crash and Bang Winger

54 & Kylington/Hickey for Nichushkin
Size & Skill, natural RW, Dallas has depth at RW and is short on defense prospects and probably having cap issues

Would be happy to add Eriksson, Okposo or Lucic, if the price isn't handcuffing.

Eww no thanks. Nichushkin has no tool box for all his great tools.
Also Dallas is anything but short on defense prospects. They have so many good ones toiling in their farm system that they are willing to let all their UFA D walk away on July 1st rather than over pay them long term.

I think you have to get a more experienced winger for the top 6.
Preferably a righty.

Would love Lucic. He's everything I hope Ferland can be. So would be great to have him there to mentor that hard nosed, mean power forward style.
A top 6 of Johnny-Money-Lucic, Tkachuk-Bennett-Ferland would be no fun for the opposition.
Shinkaruk-Backlund-Frolik can contribute as well.

Troy Brouwer. Perfect fit for the top two lines, especially with the young guys. Great complimentary player and "money puck" player. Should be able to fit in nicely with Gaudreau-Monahan or Tkachuk-Bennett. Go get him Tree.
