Default Best place to watch the parade with the family?

Our boy is 3 years old and we want to take him and the grandparents down to watch the Stampede Parade this year.

Any recommendations on good places to sit?

I have this feeling that it won't be that hard to find a good seat anywhere this year if hotel figures are to be believed.

But when I went I always found a place across the street from the PetroCanada building, it had the best shade from the burning sun.

Just throwing this out there, but since you have a little kid you may want to think about being close to the start of the parade, because if you are further along the route, the wait time before the parade is a long time for a kid that age.

You want to have a two parent team for this. One goes early to snag seats the other brings the kid 1/2hr before hand.

Think about what train you need to get on afterwards for where you want to sit.

At 3 years old, consider going to the Canada Day parade in Airdrie a week before as an alternative. The exact same experience with far less congestion.

There is a practice Stampede parade at the Children's hospital as well. Maybe the day before or a few days before? Worth a google if you want to avoid the early morning and crowds of the real parade.
