Default Corn Feed

I am making corn hold boards and decided to make my own bean bags, which despite the name is filled with whole corn feed. The problem, I cannot seem to locate anywhere that sells it. I need a minimum of 35lbs.

I have tried googling to no prevail (user error I presume) so I was hoping the CP brain trust could help me.

Does anyone know where I can get Whole Corn Feed locally? (shipping costs are more then the feed cost when I do locate it)

I had no idea that's how bean bags should be made. I'd love get me one of these should you end up with excess supply!

Took a minute to figure out what it is you were making. You mean that game where you toss a bean bag at a hole in a board, right?

Try UFA maybe? Or Bulk Barn may have something you could use instead. I thought they used rice inside the bags actually.

I looked at UFA and Bulk Barn's sites but can't find if they actually sell it or not. Walmart sells it in the states!

I am actually making a flames one that I should post a picture when I am done.

Have filled them with different grains. Field peas worked good. Wheat worked perfectly fine too, and real easy to find.

And as a bonus, they double as emergency food supplies for the upcoming zombie apocalypse.

Google up feed Mills.
Gotta to be one in the city, or Strathmore or somewhere close.
Will be much cheaper there than a retail place

Does it have to be corn? Bean bags are typically filled with plastic pellets, found at Michaels etc. They could also get wet without causing an issue.

I think you may be over complicating this. You can use any dry bean or even popping corn works well. Commercial ones do in fact use the plastic pellets, but you seem to want the "official" style. Just experiment with a few and then replicate.

The hard part is figuring how much/bag for maximum bounce on your home made boards. We made some and they seemed alright until we tossed them and bounced 2 ft in the air upon hitting the boards. We had to remove a bit from each which was a PITA.

Enjoy!

Edit- Any farmers put there - what's the difference between popping corn and feed?? They're both dried versions of either sweet corn or feed corn. Are they not?

Not sure if it was a mistake or if you are not sure but it is called "Corn Hole", not corn hold. I've heard of others having a similar problem though and ended up using popcorn kernels, which do not have the same effect. Actual corn seed is most ideal for the bags (lending to the name Corn Hole getting the corn in the hole) as the dust emitted from the bags makes the surface of the corn hole board more and more slippery each time while other fillers such an synthetic pellets give very little dust and beans tend to quit emitting dust after a few games. Corn is a long lasting dust emitter. I would purchase them online http://www.cornhole.com/Cornhole-Bags-s/56.htm I bought a few sets of corn bags while on vacation to Ohio a couple of years ago, where seemingly everyone Corn Holed.

I picked up a 20kg bag of whole corn feed from the wild bird store, takes the cost of a bag around $2 compared to paying $30-40 for 8 online. (I made 4 boards so paying $160 for "bean" bags seemed a bit excessive)

I have made several boards in the past, it was just about saving $$ on the bags. The 10z duck cloth cost $8/yd which makes 16 bags and the filler is about 60 cents per bag. Plus I can make a couple extra bags now for when murder corn hole (everyone throws until you get it in the hole, last person gets thrown at by everyone) gets out of control and breaks bags.
