Bishop is the better goalie, but is UFA after the upcoming season. This makes him a potential flight risk and potentially very expensive from a cap perspective. Fleury is under contract on a reasonable deal for three more seasons.
That said, I'd rather have Bishop because he's a proven playoff performer and Fleury's playoff performances in recent years have been spotty, at best.
Either of them would be a major improvement in goal for Calgary, though.

That's probably a good thing, with all of the negative connotations polls are receiving around here recently.
I want Bishop more -- he's the better player -- but I think we'll end up with Reimer, actually.

On topic: Bishop is the better bet but would likely need a new contract that would exceed the length remaining for Fleury at a higher dollar value.

tough call actually. Bishop is younger and probably the better goalie right now, but UFA next year and the new equipment rules could affect him. Fleury is more experienced and under contract until 2019. Both have had some injury concerns lately.
I'd be fine with either one in Calgary unless BT has to break the bank.

Good point about the equipment. Fleury is a very athletic goalie and has excellent reflexes. He could excel in the "new" NHL with smaller equipment. Good thing to consider, for sure.

Bishop is going to cost more than Anderson to acquire. Then you got to throw him $7 million on a long term deal.
Fleury should cost less if Rutherford gets off the drugs.
As much as i thought Reimer was plan c for the flames, i'm staring to think if prices dont go down then he is plan a.

Don't worry ... I'll return polls to their original lustre when I walk out the prospect ranking series in early July!

Both are currently good but also come with warning signs such as injury concerns and could drop off in performance at any time. They will also eat major cap for the foreseeable future. I'd rather keep searching for any possible alternative unless one of them can really be had for cheap.

Bishop.
Younger.
Better home plate percentages
Better puck handler
One year of term left, Fleury has three. Neither guy is a long term solution due to age.

Neither - don't give up assets for a goalie and sign Reimer as a UFA.
Then wait until teams feel the immediate pressure of the expansion draft next season.

We have three 2nds.
Surely we can afford Bishop. Who, in case people aren't aware, is better. I still cringe thinking about some of MAF's playoff performances in years passed.
To sum it up..
BPA.

Are you suggesting Reimer would sign a one year deal as a UFA?

I dont think thats going to happen like so many think it is.
Right now Calgary is the only team in the NHL looking for a starter, thats pretty much a lock. However, at this time next year there may be as many as 6 teams in the same spot the Flames are now. That means more buyers for teams looking to sell off. If I'm team X right now, i go into the season with what i have and see what happens. If nothing special comes of my goaltending, at the end of the season i go to Pittsburgh or whoever and make a deal and then protect the guy i just picked up because the guys i just had werent worthy.
There really is no pressure point for that scenario right now.
that being said, where the deals can come this season are with teams in cap trouble with the lack of rise in the overall cap number. Pittsburgh looks like they will have to move one of Fleury or Malkin to me. I wont be surprised if its Malkin either as he clears up way more room and Rutherford is likely really uneasy about handing the reins to Murray who has all of 40 games NHL experience. I think its almost likely JR sees how at least the first couple months go next year before moving MAF.
Lots of different scenarios though...so who knows.
