Default Habs Draft Summary

It was a busy few hours for me, drafting for 3 teams- but it got done and with only a few minors errors.

Habs Draft looked like this (without the flashy photoshop)

23 - Pascal Laberge - Habs wanted someone to fall or hoped to land Tufte. Simmer got the slider and Philly took Tufte at 22. We were disappointed but went to plan B, which was to take Laberge out of the rest.

33 - Boris Katchouk - We wanted Boris here and got him. Simple.

36/37 - Sam Steel/Jordan Kyrou - Habs liked Steel and was going to to be selected if around. We almost took Samuel Girard, but went with Kyrou- which we are happy with.

44 - Nathan Bastian - Big body who can play with good players. We were hoping for a few guys here but they were all gone. Settled on Bastian who will be interesting to follow next season.

71- Joey Anderson -Habs didn't do any research for this part of the draft. We took the, 'we'll see what happens' approach. Like Bastian, Anderson rode shotgun with good linemates. Be interesting to track his progression.

78 - Evan Fitzpatrick - Habs committed to drafting no goalies. But the 'see what happens part of the draft' overtook previous commitments. Fitzpatrick is the reason for the HNL (Hockey Newfoundland Labrador) conflict of interest issue, so he has been on the news here. I was surprised to still see him on the board, being he was some scouts top goalie. Either way, we drafted the Newfie.

89 - Markus Nurmi - Last pick of the draft for the Habs. Don't expect much but could have some upside. I'll see what happens.

I like your Kyrou pick. He's a guy I really like, especially where you took him.

Great work on yours and also helping out for a few others...I'm sure they appreciated it!

Sorry about screwing you over at 21. You never know which guys end up falling in the CPHL, it does seem to happen less now though. Lots of good draft info out there for everyone to read up on.

23 - Pascal Laberge - NHL 36 (-13)
33- Boris Katchouk - NHL 44 (-11)
36 - Sam Steel - NHL 30 (+6)
37 - Jordan Kyrou - NHL 35 (+2)
44 - Nathan Bastian - NHL 41 (+3)
71 - Joey Anderson - NHL 73 (-2)
78 - Evan Fitzpatrick - NHL 59 (+19)
89 - Markus Nurmi - NHL 163 (-72)
104 - Connor Bunnaman - NHL 109 (-5)

Habs got 5 players drafted between 30 and 44. All players were taken around their spot in the NHL, except for Nurmi. Biggest riser was Fitzpatrick who was drafted 19 spots earlier in the NHL.

Overall, Habs had a fun draft day. We would have liked a top 10 player, but it was exciting drafting in the early 2nd.
