Moving - Pods / Containers / Movers Ohhh My!

About to move our family to a new home in the city, and am looking for recent experiences folks have had with whatever method they used...

Right now I am leaning to the PODS/CubeIt/BigSteelBox method, as it seems less stressful and we can do it ourselves on our timeline over a few weeks...

But the down side is either wrangling family or friends to help with a few heavy pieces, or hiring guys for them.

Any thoughts?

I used one of these pod systems a few years ago and thought it was great. I loaded the entire thing by myself over a week and on the last day had a friend help with a few large pieces. No stress/pressure to get things done in a certain time frame. They picked up the pod and moved it same day. Showed up at the new place and had a friend help me unload it into the garage of the new place in an hour.

Only bad part was I used a company called cubeit and they missed my pickup time by a day.

Keep in mind if you're using pods or steel box you have to get a daily permit to put it down on a city street. Some companies won't set the pod down without seeing it. For a driveway you don't need one.
