Good for Backstrom. He obviously wasn't ready to give up on hockey, but his time in the NHL was done.

Not gonna lie, when I woke up this morning and saw the Score Mobile notification that said "Niklas Backstrom has signed...." then had to open it to see the full headline my heart stopped for a moment. I guess he's a former flame now so you get Flames updates on him but in my morning stupor I was genuinely scared he was coming back next season.

For a moment, I was going to quip that he was our best goalie last year, but thought I had better check the stats. 2 games with a SV% over .950 and 2 games under .790. That is ridiculous.
