I have/had hay fever and it made my life miserable. I was diagnosed as a kid, maybe 7 or 8, and it really sucked. I would go into fits of sneezing where I would sneeze 15 to 30 times in a row and I could not stop. I took medication for a number of years and it helped a lot. I stopped taking medication when I was around 14 because they stopped making the stuff that I liked. Surprisingly, I "grew" out of hay fever a few years after stopping taking medicine. I have no symptoms now and it is awesome. I was just thinking about my allergy days this past week during my kid's soccer game. There was so much white fluff floating around that day that it would have destroyed me 20 years ago.

Ditto here. I used to have horrible hay fever, would sneeze constantly and rub my eyes until they were pink almost every day before I discovered anti-histamines.
This year, I don't know what's happening. I was expecting things to be worse just from visual observations of cottony fluff blowing around but I haven't suffered any negative affects at all this spring.
And to be honest, I am really bummed that my excuse not to do yard work has gone away.
Specifically I react to the long grass when it is seeding during June. Every year my eyes swell up, I take a bunch of anti-histamines, pass out, and wake up with sticky eyes.

Have you tried nasal steroids? They often help with allergic conjunctivitis
I'm on a year round 5 mg desloratadine dose because of numerous allergies, but June is always the hardest month for me for allergies. It started about two weeks ago this year and I remember last year being rough too.
I take anti-histamines about ~200 days of the year. Fall and Spring are usually the worst times for me though; it's usually the pressure changes that kill me, though pollen doesn't help.
A few years ago I started getting really bad allergies in the spring and summer, and for a little while it stopped responding to antihistamines. That's when the doctor put me on nasacort (I am pretty sure at that time it was by prescription, I see now you can get it OTC).
Nasacort was a lifesaver, it took about 2 weeks to take full effect, two sprays in each nostril every day, but after that no symptoms at all. I used it for a couple years then I stopped getting allergies, I am sure not because of nasacort probably just grew out of it.

I'm going to pick this up on the way home today. Claritin/Reactine/Etc do nothing for me anymore. I hope this works for me.
I never had allergies until about age 40, and then I started getting some kind of hay fever for the couple of weeks around the Stampede. Itchy red eyes and sneezing. Reactine works for me.
The poplar fluff is not bothering me right now. Must be some other kind of pollen in July.

Nothing more frustrating as a pharmacist than when a patient over 40 comes in clearly suffering from allergies tells me they've never had allergies so that can't be it. Then proceed to buy cold stuff and don't believe me when their eyes are red and itchy
