I always feel like this kind of news does not need to be made public. Anyhow, thoughts and prayers.

I usually agree with this, but I think this is a smart move by the Flames to protect Treliving during this tragic time. Family trumps business and only a monster would disagree, this being public allows Brad to take the time he needs without pressure from the media/fans on the search for a coach.

Exactly. You know for a fact that if Brad missed time "for private reasons" the CP wolves would start circling and it would get ugly quick. Such is the nature of being a GM in a Canadian city.

+1. Presumably the scouts, Burke, Conroy, Pascal can handle the combine and refining draft list etc. The coaching decision doesn't have to be a rush at this point.

I totally agree with family trumps business, I just feel like the media is prying into a personal issue that maybe shouldn't be a media thing. I guess I just hope the man is left alone during this time.

RIP.

The news would get out in a obituary or a social media posting from friends, extended family, acquaintances, etc.
This is a good way to handle it on the Flames and BT's behalf and it was likely run by BT before being done anyways.

There's more than enough scouts, AGM's, and Brian Burke, to cover work at the office. As a fan, take all the time needed.

Thoughts and prayers to the Treliving family

I hope it wasn't sudden. It's still difficult when someone passes but when a family member is suffering your relieved the pain is over.

Sorry for your and your families loss Mr. Treliving.
