I didn't even know he had cancer. When I saw the thread title I automatically assumed either an OD or liver failure

Just heard yesterday that he was in palliative care.
Didn't know he was so close to the end though.

Last time I was in Toronto, the amount of respect the average person had for this guy was staggering. Reminded me of the Ralph Days here. The loyalty was similar.
Cancer sucks. RIP

Wow. Thoughts and prayers.
I've always respected him somewhat. He seemed like a guy who really, really, really loved his city and wanted to do something to make it better for everyone who lived there. Even if you didn't agree with the way he wanted to do it, or his personal image, I think many can still agree he wanted to achieve something worth achieving.

Hindsight being 20/20, at least he left it ALL on the table. Maybe he secretly knew he wasn't long for this earth, and just said F it, I'm living hard.
Regardless RIP. He was certainly a polarizing and interesting man.

Agreed Pylon.
There are not too many politicians that have that approach and are that successful.

RIP.
I really feel sorry for the man. Politically, I think he was a well meaning guy who got in over his head resulting in excessive partying and drug use.

Don't feel sorry for him. He was a bad politician who bullied people and exploited his political influence to the fullest.
He knowingly drove drunk many times putting people at risk.
He was a bad person. Good Riddance.

He was a bit of an a-hole, but c'mon man. Good riddance? He was a flawed and troubled man, no doubt, but he was also an addict. And addicts do a lot of things that make no sense.
I've done some pretty crappy things in my life, I certainly hope that people would be able to overlook my flaws, and at least appreciate some of the good things I've done on this planet. Instead of saying "Good riddance."
Pretty cold man.

No revisionism here. The guy was a bigot and not a very compassionate human being. RIP to him either way.
