Next stage is Stanley Cup, maybe even the Grey Cup and World Series.

This team just continues to impress. Amazing signing.

Saw this on Twitter earlier this morning and wondered if this won't be a 2 way deal, offered as a reward for showing the team he had cleaned up his act. Now he spends the last year of his career (likely) in California. Not the worst way to go out.

Bah, credit where it's due. It's not going to do much for them but he played well in his time there; at least for that kind of money. It really isn't a bad signing for them.

For some reason I had a soft spot for Kassian. He went through a lot and made some bad decisions but he bounced back and dealt with things. He was dealt to the oilers and he didn't just give up, he actually played the way many expected him to but he actually re-signed with the oilers by choice so it looks like he's fallen back to making bad decisions.

No risk and quite a bit of upside, it's a fair deal. That's fourth line money for a guy who is a decent 3rd line player if he's not, yknow, battling substance abuse issues or other personal problems.

Kassian and Maroon were good moves by Chiarelli IMO. Their soft, weak forward core needed to be bolstered by a couple of powerforwards. As one of the worst teams in the league they could take a chance on Kassian's questionable character. Chiarelli recognized their need for size/strength up front and has started to address it.

No indication he can fix the defense though. And if they take Tkachuk they further bolster their powerforwards but still ignore the defensive problems long term.

Pro-rated to an 82 game season last year he is an average 4th liner.

Not a bad contract at all.

From what I understand McHappymeal is the second coming of Bob Gainey, Guy Carbonneau as well as McMessier and McGretzky so I hope Powerade has lots of juice for McHappymeal he should be busy trying to be all those guys.

Upside? His only non-plug time in his career was when we played with the Sedins. He's a 4th line player.

The best thing about it is that teams aren't intimidated by him, he's a lose canon so they're going to goad him into his normal acts of stupidity.

He had a nice boost playing with the Sedins, but I could probably let those guys bounce pucks off of me and I would look like the second fatter coming of Kassian.
