Yes great name for an industrial metal band, but what's with these convoys of cars running up and down Macleod Trail with old CCCP and USSR flags. Some New Democratic era Russian flags mixed in as well. It's kinda cool. What are they celebrating? Anyone know?

Plus I've learned Russians REALLY like Hyundai's.
Sorry, but obligatory

Something to do with Victory Day is my guess but ive never heard of such a thing in Calgary.
Yeah. Second year in a row I've noticed it. I was just curious as to the significance. It's not super organized or anything. Just random groups of half a dozen or so cars draped in old Russian flags and curyllic banners.

I just passed this group on Center Street heading south. LOL, lots of Hyundai's but the lifted F350 stood out. C'mon, bring the T-90 main battle tanks and the SS-20 ICBM's but leave the Elantra and Accents next time.
I saw a Kazakh and Hungarian flag mixed in with the Hammer and Sickle. Given their history with Russia makes me wonder if they were just lost. Notably absent: Ukrainian flags... Lots of 45-ish slavic looking women driving from what I could tell.
A little Googling tells me the 9th of May is Victory Day over ze Germans.
How thrilled with the Russians be if I was driving around with a new Canadian flag up-and-down Moscow? If you are so pro Russia it seems odd to have left? That's all I mean
Celebrating the victory against Germany in WW2 is something we can all get behind. Not sure I'll ever fully understand the same feelings as them, as our country was never actually attacked the way they were (Not that the Soviets were saints during that war either)

I just saw these dirty Rustys driving down Sarsi. If you're waving a Russian flag perhaps you should go back to Russia
If you're a proud Canadian, you should learn how to spell the name of the historic military camp based in our city.

I'd like to think I'm one up on the average gay bashing, Crimea annexing, to hell with Perestroika Russian. If you're not though that's cool. F them "Rusty's".
