Default Watch out for them pot holes

Has anyone else noticed how bad the pot holes are this year? Even the general shape of our roads seem to be worse. Street sweeping I find has also missed a lot of sections in areas that are already "complete".

I've noticed it too. Really bad. And not surprising really. We had a huge dump of snow in December followed by like a week of + temperatures where it still dropped below freezing every night. That happened a couple times I think. Made a mess of the roads. Happens every year but this year was worse.

A lot of the back roads are in horrible shape, but its not like this year is unusual, the secondary roads have been pretty much ignored for the last few years and the pot holes are spreading like a pox.

I'd expect that Mechanics love this city right now.

There's a few on Anderson that would destroy a car at the posted 80km's if you actually hit them. Most have been fixed now.

Not so much potholes, but the sidewalk cracks that the city had fixed are coming apart again. There must be better materials for sidewalks / patching materials for our climate.

I was thinking of starting a similar thread as I can think of a half dozen or so potholes during my regular trips up and down Deerfoot.

Not sure if the ciTy is doing much hot patching this year or if they have given up.

A buddy of mine had one of his tires wrecked on his Caddy when he hot a pothole last week. Luckily the rim wasn't damaged or the suspension.

The City does not maintain Deerfoot. That is the provinces' responsibility.

Report potholes via the 311 app. Roads is very quick to patch and fill them.

Lots of snow and cold combined with higher use of road salts have made for the most frost heave I have seen from a winter.

The oldest of the ten or so open SR #s I have in the 311 app is almost 2 weeks old. Out of the ten, two have been fixed. That's quick?

Both Glenmore and Crowchild have some good ones this year. Winter seems to have taken more of a toll on them than usual.

the North bound Deerfoot between the Bridge and 17th avenue is just a rough mess now.

Yeah the City Roads Dept. is going to be busy this year, all of the roads are just in brutal shape.

Crowchild is the worst for not necessarily potholes but the depressions around manhole covers. Especially the stretch from 17th ave to glenmore. Those things are massive, never get fixed, and are placed perfectly within lanes that they are impossible to swerve around safely. Like instead of being placed on the lane marker or in the middle of the lane its like they were placed 25% of the way in for maximum tire damage potential.

It's funny that you guys think you have a lot of potholes up there.

You're not a bad poster, so I don't mean for this to sound too condescending, but if you're going to make a post like this, at least add in a couple of pics or a description of how bad it is down there to lighten the mood in this thread.

Without that, your post is just completely useless, and kind of passive aggressive at the same time. Like, sorry that we stayed put in our first world country and paid substantial municipal taxes so that we could drive on paved roads instead of moving to panama and living in the jungle and 4x4ing everywhere we go?
