If Doughty doesn't win this year then he probably never will. He had a fantastic season.

Going to be tough for Doughty to win when he's up against one Dman with 82 points, and the other had 75 points including 27 goals.
Like it or not, those offensive numbers win votes.

Just give it to Karlsson. No point in waiting until the award show.

We need a Bobby Orr trophy for players like Burns and Karlsson.

Interesting, why do you think that? The argument for Burns is the same as Karlsson, offensive numbers, but Karlsson has better offensive numbers.
I think it's a two-horse race between elite offense (Karlsson) and elite defending (Doughty). I don't think Burns is even close but that's just my opinion.

Burns has better offensive numbers. 27 goals for a D man is insane. Hopefully Burns wins it

I know what you're saying, but Bobby Orr was so much more than points. Would have to be named after someone else.

For the 100th time, Bobby Orr was fantastic defensively. +597 for his career (I know, +/- blah blah) and the year he put up 139 points he was +124. But forget stats - I watched him play and he was pure domination.
If you want to name a couple trophies, how about the Bobby Orr award for the best defenseman, and the Paul Coffey award for the defenseman with the most points?
