Glass falls off Brookfield tower and shuts down traffic
It seems there is a large amount of roads cordoned off down around the Suncor building. Any idea what is going on?
Edit: apparently it was this:
Quote:
Glass crashing down on a car from the under-construction Brookfield Place in downtown Calgary has shut down Sixth Avenue S.W.
"We received a call at 4 o'clock that there was glass that fell from the 33rd floor and thankfully did not injure anybody because that would have been really, really nasty," said Calgary Fire Department spokesperson Carol Henke.
Due to the situation, Sixth Avenue S.W. is closed between First and Second Streets and will be for some time as crews wait for strong winds to subside.

This. Accoridny to twitter debris (aka crap). Not sure if it's from one of the new buildings. Hopefully no one was hurt.

Lesson learned. Do not use the phrase "a crane was lifting something and the wind blew its load into the glass" when discussing what happened with coworkers.

I guess then with the wind it took until 4pm for that glass to dislodge.

Traffic was mayhem yesterday along 6th. So glad I park just outside the core.
And in some unrelated news today, a semi truck that was too tall for the 9th ave overpass got stuck underneath the bridge when it's roof clipped the truck. 1st street/Mcleod south. I walked right beside the aftermath.
