saw this on thescore app as well.
also if we sign Johnny/Mony to 6 year deals, nobody would be complaining (depending on the aav). so don't get the "oilers level of management" comment at all

Both seem like bargains, although Riellys follows a similar trend of young defenseman getting signed up to cheaper deals than you'd expect.

Yeah those are good deals. Sucks. I was hoping they'd throw 7 at each for whatever reason.
Still, Brodie for less than Reilly. Treliving's a wizard

Not sure I would sign Kadri to a 6 year deal, but the Rielly deal is good.

Also got some form of no trade clause
Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC
Limited no-trade protection for both Kadri and Rielly. $5M AAV for Rielly. $4.5M for Kadri

I'd give Brodie 5.0 in a heartbeat for two more years.

If you look at Kadri's stats $4.5 million seems pretty fair as he's 25 and in his prime so a few more seasons in the area of 50 points should be expected. Not sure about the term though as I may have wanted to go five years max on him but overall two pretty decent contracts for a rebuilding team.

Taking a while to get to 5000

The Reilly deal seems fine. Excellent, actually. Not a fan of Kadri, but they clearly see the value. They should have tried to keep the term lower, but then he asks for more and you wind up here anyway.

Reilly will really cash in once this deal ends (assuming he continues to develop as expected). It looks like a good deal for now. Not as good as Brodie's, but still solid.

Even if you're not sold on Kadri you have to at least admit that he's more likely to trend up than down at this stage of his career - he's not going to fall off a cliff or anything - and at the moment, he at least works as a scoring 2nd line C. Which for 4.5M is a solid deal. 2C's cost $5-6M per now.

That Reilly deal could end up being a real steal given the way he is trending.
Kadri is a POS but that deal is fair IMO.
