Default Duncan Keith match penalty against Coyle UPDATE: Suspended 6 games

Could be a lengthy suspension. Looks pretty dangerous

Didn't look too bad at full speed. Careless stick, but not a baseball swing by any means.

Replay, admittedly, looks bad.

Maybe a game or two?

he should seriously get a lengthy suspension for that, like north of 10 games.

but he'll probably get 3

I disagree.

Careless stick is if while he's falling his stick comes up high and catches Coyle. In this case, he's on his back and after a few seconds takes a deliberate swing into Coyle's face. One handed or not, that was brutal and sounds like it broke Coyle's nose.

What is it with Duncan Keith using the blade of his stick to attack a Western Conference opponent's American winger wearing 1 3 whose first name ends in a long 'E' sound in a road game when the opponents are clad in their alternate jerseys featuring script logos?

After the Wideman thing I realize I just can't call something intent. But boy did I feel like he was pissed, took a look, and took a good might chop at his face.

It looked diirty to me. But, I have to say again, I thought Wideman hit the ref on accident, so I can't be judged for any of my opinions.

I sort of thought that but watching it at full speed it was pretty fast between landing on his back and flipping over.

You might be right though. At best, it was careless and should be suspended, at worst...

What? It was probably the most deliberate baseball swing I have seen in the NHL in more than 20 years

I agree with your assessment of both situations. That was a deliberate swing of the stick by Keith.

Looked deliberate to me. I'd say 3 games but since it is Keith, on the NHL "wheel of justice" it will be a slap on the wrist.

Can't see how you'd think that seeing the replay. That was vicious intent.

I like Keith a lot but he's always had a crazy streak.

Keith gets suspended 5 games and the first round of the playoffs. Keith appeals but bettman denies the appeal (some really weird text messages to Pattie Kane involved). It goes to arbitration but by that time it's well into the second round.

Man, that really sucks for Keith!

Worth keeping in mind that Keith was previously suspended 5 games for elbowing D. Sedin.

And also got 1 playoff game for this similar intentional highstick:

Very dangerous, and very intentional. That was damn close to hitting Coyle in the eye.

He should be suspended 5 games for that.
