This. Would. Suck.
The worst part would be moving down 2 spots. Part of me wants the oil to get first overall but having 2 teams behind the Flames grab the other 2 spots would really suck.

I voted 2 because it could have been a little worse if the Canucks ended up at 2 and the Leafs 3.

A result like this would make it tough to watch hockey anymore. I can't imagine the Oilers being gifted another possible super star. The NHL needs to step in and fix this lottery so Edmonton doesn't draft any higher than 5th. Almost force them to select a freaking defenseman.

I rounded up to a 2. It was essentially a 1.5000000000001 for me.
Jersey sneaking in bumped it up from a plain old 1.
Rough one for sure!

Speaking of the 6th spot, any one else nervous with the Flames taking a Tkachuk at 6 after the failed drafting of Tkaczuk at 6 in 1997? Different spelling but some bad karma perhaps
|
Seems unfair to fault the drafting of Tkacuzk. He got concussed after a solid opening to his rookie season, and was never the same. That sort of injury wasn't predictable (or managed correctly) in those days. At the time of the draft he was ranked as high as 3rd.
As to "Karma" is the writer equally concerned about Backlund's knee at the World Championships because of what happened to Joe Nieuwedyk?
There is about an equal relationship there.
Now, if we were again looking at a Swiss player I would be worried. After Ramholt, Sven, and Hiller. My goodness. As the Kids in the Hall say:

This is a 2/10. It's only saving grace is that the Canucks didn't also land top 3, and that the Flames only moved down to 7th. Either factor coming to pass would make this a 1/10 darkest timeline scenario.
EDIT: Voted before reading the article. Based on Bingo's summary, I would change my vote to a 1 now.

I think everyone's going to have to get used to the idea of the Canucks or Oilers winning the lottery. It's going to happen. It's going to suck.
I just want the Flames to at least maintain their 5th draft pick or possibly jump up into the top 3. Dropping down would be kind of a bummer after such a rough season.
Every time someone posts something about the draft lottery, I can only sarcastically think of this:

Only saving graces are the Leafs and Canucks fall out, and if the prediction on Dubois falling to 7th (if the Flames pick 7th) is true then that's not too bad.
But the thought of thoe losers yet again getting rewarded for a decade of disgrace. bleh. 1/10

LOL that is asinine to make any kind of comparison or parallel between Matthew Tkachuk and Daniel Tkacuzk or think there's any relationship or bad karma there. That kind of thinking keeps teams down as the QB needy Texans considered Derek Carr at the top of the 2nd round of the 2014 draft but passed on him because they were scared of fan perception given how his brother David failed behind the Texans expansion grade offensive line when the organization started. That kind of thinking left them to start the following QB's in the two seasons since passing on Carr; Ryan Mallett (6), Case Keenum (2), Brian Hoyer (9), T.J. Yates (2), Brandon Weeden (1), Ryan Fitxpatrick (12) while in that same time span Derek Carr started all 32 games for the Raiders. If the Flames think Matthew Tkachuk is the best player available when they pick they will take him and there will be zero consideration to Daniel Tkacuzk or what any fans may think of karma.

Totally agree ... was mostly tongue in cheek.
Shane Doan to the head in game 19 of his career, when he looked like he was cementing a top nine roll in the NHL.
Real shame.

These daily lottery threads are a good idea. It's going to mentally prepare us all to draft 7th, while Edmonton and Vancouver draft 1st and 2nd.

I'd be surprised if Tkachuk went ahead of Dubois at this point.

From my go today:
1. Canucks
2. Oilers
3. Boston
-
7. Calgary
My reaction would be:
"####. To everyone who was against playing Hiller for the end of the season, this is what you get for wanting useless wins. #Pride"
Same response I'd have with Bingo's results. Just a waste. Should have tanked. Hockey Gods are a lie.
