looks like I'm down to just me this season which will a) burn me out and likely b) make the game takes unbearable once I snap.
With that said if anyone has some writing experience and would like to help let me know. It's always awkward to turn volunteers down but they'll have to go through a test environment to make sure.
Additionally if anyone has any connections to Mount Royal or U of C journalism departments I was thinking it might be an interesting joint venture to provide a content venue for students.
Thanks all
At least they're winning, more fun to write those!
I'm a current Mount Royal Student. While I wouldn't be able to write them myself, I'll ask the communications department to see if there might be interest.
There's gotta be a few Flames fans in there that would enjoy writing up the brief game takes. Would be good writing practice on a fairly regular basis, especially if any of them want to get into sports journalism.

Just don't try to create a schedule. Apparently that is verboten.
I just don't like how Bingo acts like he "owns" the game takes though.
Seriously though Bingo I love the effort you put into the game takes. I miss a lot of games and they paint a really good picture of how they went. Much easier than wading through a game thread after the fact.

These guys come in and it’s always a nice polite one. You serve them because you dont want to cause a scene. And then they become a regular and after awhile they bring a friend. And that dude is cool too.
And THEY bring friends and they stop being cool and then you realize, oh, this is a Nazi bar now. And its too late because they’re entrenched and if you try to kick them out, they cause a PROBLEM. So you have to shut them down.

Bingo, if I could offer some constructive advice on game take exposure. I think they should be posted within the PGT threads for more traffic.
The reason being psychologically people don't click on things that don't appear to have much traffic, and no matter how many people do read game takes, the threads have that appearance because people generally aren't going to start a second post game discussion in a separate thread.
So in a way game takes are almost competing with another successful thing you built up on the same site. You have them on the front page already, so posting them in the PGT thread would be the best traffic generator even if it feels like it'll get lost.
The best way to do it, imo, would be to post it an hour or two after the game so it doesn't get lost in the initial posting rush, but still gets read by the large amount of users still reading that night and then the morning rush as well.
Also, format it in a way that slightly separates it from the other posts, more social media-ish if you will. Post the link and then under have a quote with an interesting tid-bit or important point that fits in with or generates new discussion.
I feel like this will lead to way more eye balls on the game takes as posters are notorious non clickers unless many are posting in a thread and that's where game takes get a little lost, imo.
Formatted like below

(quote from article)In tonight's game player X struggled in his own zone despite the two assists etc etc ect

Just my two cents but I like them being in a separate thread. Easier to find. I generally don't feel the need to post unless there is something specifically in the article that warrants some debate or discussion.
I like reading them.

If a poster is constantly putting himself in the crosshairs (for right or wrong reasons) maybe they need to just say no thanks a few times to correct their image.
I don't think we need to be too critical for giving a "try out" for some writers. If their stuff doesn't go well, then they can be put on the bench.
I also think it is a good idea to put a link to the Game Takes in the PGT.
