Default What is the deal with this house?

So, just to be a little creepy with the poor person who lives here, but does anyone know the deal of this house, in the river bank, off 50th ave, on the west side of the river?

How in the world does someone have that property, does anyone have history on how it was zoned for a home? Aside from the privacy issues, it looks like an amazing piece of land?

Spoiler!

I've biked passed it before. It does not look like it's lived in. Every time I see it I feel like it would make a great coffee or tea house!

Just noticed on google maps - it looks like there is another small cluster of houses (3-4 of them maybe?) further east along 50th ave - right on the river. Like a mini-neighbourhood of sorts.

Cappy, have you biked past there too?

If you look it up on the city's property assessment site, it doesn't have an assessed value. Even the little dog park by the school at the top of the hill has an assessed value, but this house and land doesn't.

Weird, the assessment search says there is no property there.

EDIT
see that's been covered...

That's not the one. That one is a little further down 50th Ave.

It does. The address of the property is 1301 50 Ave SW and the assessed value is $62,500 (!)

Before the flood there was three other buildings closer to the river but they were completely wiped out.

That's not it either. 1301 is a little triangle north of 50ave, can be seen on the map here: http://www.calgary.ca/_layouts/cocis...om=8&sideBar=3

The house appears to be on property 1411 50 Ave SE, of which is there is two. I'm guessing it's the one worth $93,500

I was just going by Google Street View where the number outside the property is 1301, but I guess if the city is saying it's 1411 (or thereabouts), they should know.

Here's the zoning map. Land of house in question is zoned 'Special Purpose - Recreation', so it must be abandoned and owned by the city now?

The group of houses is a kids camp, isn't it? A YMCA camp?
