He's tearing it up this year. Hopefully this ends up being another steal of a pick.

Is he eligible to be called up? Only on an emergency basis, amirite?

No way he gets called up with the expansion draft looming

Right... that makes sense.

But to answer your question, he would be eligible for recall once Barrie's season ends. Given they won their division, that might not be until after the Flames season is over anyway.

Would prefer to keep the Sven scenarios to a minimum going forward.

Really doubt they call him up before the OHL playoffs.

Great news and inevitable with his play the last 2 seasons now.

Was just voted OHL East fastest player and most underrated player by coaches.

I think he'll turn some heads in training camp next season but will likely spend the year in the AHL in order to adjust to the pro game.

They can't. Even in the case of an emergency situation, they could only do so if they lost a certain number of forwards - I want to say 4, but am not sure if it is that low - basically, once we reach a point where we also put Stockton into an emergency situation. Or if they were in a situation where they couldn't get a player from Stockton or Adirondack in time. i.e.: if the Thunder were playing out west for some reason and we needed a player at the last minute last night in Toronto.

Otherwise, he can't be assigned to the NHL roster until his junior season ends.

Barrie's first playoff round starts on Thursday. They have home-ice advantage in the first round against Mississauga. During the regular season, they had 10 more wins than Mississauga and dominated the head-to-head match-ups, winning 5 of 6.

If Mississauga pulls off a major upset, Barrie's season could end as early as March 31. Game 7 is scheduled for April 5. If Barrie goes to the second round, it's unlikely their season will end before either Calgary's or Stockton's.

Isn't that contract number 49? Does that mean we only have one more contract to use until after July 1st? I guess that would go to Jankowski?

Mangiapane's contract wont count against the limit until he turns pro.

This looks like a really nice pick for a 6th rounder, kudos to the Flames draft team.

This is almost-certainly a contract that starts next season, so if Barrie's season ends early, he would only be able to join Stockton on an ATO, and not come to Calgary.

Would be great to see Mangiapane and Anderson make a nice run with Barrie in the playoffs -- all the way to the Memorial Cup in Red Deer.

Yeah, and just to add the Flames are at 46 not 49.
