Default Kitchen Cupboard Hinge Issues

I'd like to start by saying that I am in no way shape or form a handyman. I am the exact opposite so this question may be a no brainer to some. My kitchen cupboards are pretty nice on the outside but they're that particleboard junk on the inside. My hinge ripped out in both spots from the inside of the cupboard. I've refilled it several times with wood filler. Every time I go to drill The screw back in the wood filler just ctumbles and I'm back at square one with a little bigger mess than I had before. Moving the hinge up or down does not to be an option as it is imbedded directly into the door. Any suggestions on how to get this hinge back on? It's driving me nuts. Should I use epoxy instead of wood filler? Maybe use a wood screw instead of the blunter machine screw that was originally in there? Anyone know a good handiman that could fix this for me? Open to any suggestions before I drive my fist through the wall ( I almost did tonight).

Remove door
Remove hinges and mark top hinge and bottom hinge so you don't mix them up
Take a drill bit the same size as a golf tee and clean out the screw hole. Do not drill through door

Lightly scuff a golf tee with sandpaper
Use a small amount of wood glue and insert goof tee
Let it dry
Cut off the golf tee flush
You can now remount the hinge by drilling a small pilot hole in the appropriate spot

Call me when you #### it up

Edit - what style of hinge is it? Photo?

I would stir up a mix of sawdust and wood glue and pack it in there. Let it cure well and then re-drill the screw holes. Curious to see what other suggestions there are.

Not a bad idea but you don't get the same amount of bite as you would if you interest a plug. It will hold for a bit but likely to fail down the road again

Hole is much bigger than a golf tee size now. I would post a picture but I don't seem to be able to figure out how.

Ok - same idea then. Just buy a small run of dowel at canadian tire or rona.

Just use the appropriate size drill bit.

I'm not handy at all and not good with my hands. I'm scared if screw the cupboard up trying something like that myself.

Dowel or chunk of wood and construction adhesive. You can also mix sawdust and construction adhesive but it is a messy process.

Don't be scared - I've just sent you a PM of my number. If I can see the issue I can walk you though a fix.

Personally I'd use epoxy putty, it comes in two pieces of putty you squish together to activate then you can press it in to space to be filled.

You can do this. I've fixed doors using the same method as surferguy suggests. First off, google it. You'll find a youtube video with your exact problem. Watch it. Do it the same way and you'll be fine.

You'll be proud of yourself and amazed how easy it was.

Option 2: Remove door and enjoy the easy access to your cereal.

I'm also more than willing to pay a handyman to fix this for me if anyone knows any good ones.

I'm not sure how willing someone will be to take this job on. They will spend more time waiting for the glue to harden than they will actually doing anything.

Surferguy is the handyman of all handmen but as the last poster said, you should probably make it really worth his time for such a small job if he accepts.

Consider looking around your place for a few other items for surferguy to fix all at once?
