Rene Bourque on the other hand hurts us by giving PIT a PP which they convert on. Letang with his 13th ties the game 1-1

The Flyers lead 2-0 in the second period.
The Penguins are up 3-2 over the BJs late in the second period.

Bobrovsky looks shakier than Korpisalo although maybe he's just rusty. Bourque with two penalties already, how is this guy still in the league and Glencross is out? Strange.

Interesting to see that Russell has almost 5 more minutes of ice time than any other Star with 10 minutes left to go in their game. Good for him!

Dallas had some weird special team ice time that game. Russell played 6 mins on the PP... Way more than any other dman. And then he played 6 mins on the pk with Golikoski and none of the other guys played more than 3 mins.
Good for Russell but seems weird that the rest of the d barely played on special teams.

Awful let down game in Dallas...'Hawks seemed disinterested...5-2 final.
On Benn's goal...Is that a coach's challenge or did Toronto just screw us (again)? The 'Hawks have had goals with LESS foot action waved off this year...
Awful effort though, whole team suckage.

Man that central division is crazy. DAL, STL, and CHI all 2 points apart.

The Predators are seven points back of the third place Blackhawks. I know it is doubtful, but, one of the teams you mentioned could fall into a wild card spot.

Russell with over 27 minutes in Dallas' win last night. I wonder what his detractors will be saying if he continues on this path and ends up as the number one defenceman for a Stars team that makes it to the conference finals or beyond?

Yeah I've been wondering this myself. All we heard around here was that Russell was not a top four defenceman on a top team. On the Stars, he's been getting top two minutes and they may win the Central Division.

The thing with Russell as a Flames player is that we are a small team, 9lbs lighter on average than the Stars, and he didn't fit in as well with us as he can with a bigger team. We got a good return for him and got bigger for the future. On opening day we were the 29th ranked team for weight and it is a problem. We already have 3 or 4 puck moving defencemen and we need some muscle to balance it out and clear the front of the net. The bottom line is Russell is a better fit with the Stars, not that he isn't a good player.

His ice time will go down when Klingberg gets back and takes a lot of his PP time. If you take his 6 minutes of PP time and move it down to 2 or whatever his ice time becomes more normal.

On the other board, all of the Dallas fans who were bitching and moaning are suddenly in love with him.
It was still the right move for us, especially if he signs for around $5 million/yr in the offseason.
