I think I heard its just re-branded Access.
Edit: RDTV is being rebranding to a "CH" station. Part of the Global family loosely like they are now, showing more syndication stuff etc.
As for Global Sports...tough call. Gone are the days of Sprts @ 11:30, when the guys could do whatever they wanted. Bieng under Global, it seems they have more strict rules..no skits like Toth and Lownsborough, and even the coverage seems to have to be more wider range. A 30 second blurb over Hamerlik signing, when that should've been talked about and had insight for 5 minutes IMO. But it seems they have a mandate from HQ. But the coverage of other sports isn't much better then the Sports @ 11:30 either.
The Stamps XONE is pretty in depth, but thats about it.
There should be more indepth coverage on some things, but Global is trying to get a whole bunch of different stories (local and otherwise, which is fine) but its not really coming off well.
I watch maybe once a week, but it doesn't do it for me. The local stuff is too sparse, and the big league stuff is covered better by TSN/SNET/The Score.
Doug Vaessen is pretty good, but Colin Smith is like a robot, Kevin Smith still isn't funny , rather akward and the Boss, Pollock, still comes acorss as a know it all (and he's rarely on anymore at 11:30 anyways).
As bad as actual coverage of the world of sports was with Sports @ 11:30, and the silliness they had with skits, took away a bit from the integrity, the one good thing that they had, and which is missing now, is the personality and and the intensity they had covering Stamps/Flames. Since the major cable networks are now in al most every home, when 10 years ago all you had was TSN, and had to pay extra for it, that regional, specialized show maybe should be revived rather then trying to be everything to everybody as far as sports goes.
The current Global Sports is gulity of trying to be too much to too many, and falls short on seeming like a Calgary based program.
