Default Supreme Court Justice, Antonin Scalia Dead

Multiple sites reporting so I guess it's for real.

Quote:
Associate Justice of the Supreme Court Antonin Scalia was found dead Saturday on a luxury resort in West Texas, federal officials said.

Scalia, 79, was a guest at the Cibolo Creek Ranch, a resort in the Big Bend region south of Marfa. MySanAntonio.com said he died of apparent natural causes.

Scalia arrived at the ranch on Friday and attended a private party with about 40 people, the website of the San Antonio Express News said. When he did not appear for breakfast, a person associated with the ranch went to his room and found a body.

The U.S. Marshal Service, the Presidio County sheriff and the FBI were involved in the investigation, according to the report.

A federal official who asked not to be named told the San Antonio Express News paper there was no evidence of foul play and it appeared that Scalia died of natural causes.

Crazy stuff. Definitely one of the worst of the bunch on that court. There are more right cleaners that are retiring soon too. Not sure if Scalia was one of them though. I wonder if Obama tries to quickly get one in. The Supreme court could swing pretty left here soon. Too bad it's likely going to be Hillary appointing them as she's pretty beholden to the way things currently work.

Keep it classy.

Anyway, he was a good judge, for the most part. I liked reading his commentary.

Also, if the Dems win the presidency as is likely and the Senate stays as is in general, I wonder if we even see a confirmation by the end of the first term. It's so insanely partisan now plus the abortion and religion thing looms so heavy over the whole process.

This could get pretty ugly.

Naw, he wasn't. Any judge who makes decisions on the law of the land using the bible is a ####ty judge. As a result, Scalia was a ####ty judge. Also a huge supporter of the Super PAC disaster.

Did he die before or shortly after you first googled his name?

The narrow-mindedness of people here nevery fails to amaze me. Anyway, so long to one of the greatest legal writers to ever sit on the bench.

The court is better without him, he was as ignorant as they come.

Aside from the obvious fact that he had a huge family that probably loved him and will now have to go through the mourning process, there's not a lot to be sad about in this situation.

Commends judge who refuses to allow people to get married because they're gay, calls others narrow minded.

Well done.

No, I am liberal-minded enough to respect someone's talents and learning without necessarily agreeing with them on everything.

He was the most articulate old man yelling at the kids to get off his lawn in the world.

We could mention his views on trying to put minors to death and the "oh well" to women on raped pregnancy who want an abortion.

Good riddance to this tool.

Any talents he had were over shadowed with his bible thumping black&white views.

I'm not overjoyed because Scalia passed away, because that would be rather disgusting. However, I'm very pleased it occurred while Obama still has the ability to appoint a more moderate viewpoint to a court. I don't need a raging liberal, just someone who had the ability to understand a modern society without constantly referring to a 2-6000 year old document for guidance.

Rest In Peace Justice Scalia. We're going to move forward without you now.

Trevor Noah, on The Daily Show from Thursday, just joked about the Supreme court justices not being around for the start of season 7 of Game of Thrones.

Scalia was a brilliant writer, who eloquently penned terrible decisions.

Thoughts and prayers to his family, congratulations to openminded, progressive Americans.

Very small chance the republican senate allows Obama to name a replacement and have him confirmed prior to the election
