Icon24 Blackhawks waive Scuderi

Craig Morgan @craigsmorgan
Blackhawks waive Scuderi.

Doubt he gets claimed as he has another year at $2.5 million.

Won't get claimed. Bad player, bad contract.

"Looks at standings"... yeah they're really suffering without Sharp in the lineup!

It seemed illogical to take ANY salary back in the Sharp contract dump...it should have been for low value picks, if nothing else. Stanbo is now correcting his error
Most Chicago fans recognized that Sharp's salary was a luxury that the 'Hawks couldn't afford, and are still waiting for the affordable option for a LW to go with Toews/Hossa. Dano seems a bust in the 'Hawk system, even struggling at the Rock. I look for a move for Ladd or Boedicker with any remaining cap space, especially if Hossa's cap hit is deferred by his IR stay (and the way he crashed into the boards, I think 2 weeks on IR is a lie, I wouldn't doubt ankle FRACTURE for 4 to 6).

Gustafsson and Svedberg seem to be the #6 and #7 D-men...Pokka may be the bait in any deal beyond picks for the rent-a-LW (wouldn't doubt seeing Dano moved either).

In hindsight, Chicago should have avoided a strong divisional opponent as the trade partner. They are currently behind the Stars in the standings.

I imagine he'll clear, but he does seem like a free depth D pick up heading into the playoffs rather than spending a 4th rounder at the deadline. 2 cups with different teams and tons of playoff experience.

The extra year on the contract is the killer though. Anaheim, Florida, New York and even Nashville have tons of cap space, and he's probably no more money than other rental D who may be slightly better players, but I'd rather have Scuderi as a 6/7/8 in the spring...
