Potential SCF matchup with the Kings-Caps game. It will be interesting to see how they stack up against each other.

Hard for me to care about the OOT scoreboard when we have been out of it since before the all star break. Sigh

Gudas gets a major for a hit to the head to Bobby Farnham. He's had a couple borderline hits lately, wonder if this one finally gets him a suspension.

Ovi with 4:55 TOI has 4 shots.
Caps start their backup.
Talk about a club with confidence and swagger.

What I do in lost seasons is cheer for the other bottom feeders to pass us lol. As silly as it is, where we finish the standings may make the difference between getting a franchise player in the draft or not. That in turn may affect the fortunes of the Flames for a decade. Imagine in Bennett's year if we didn't get a top 4 pick and instead we're talking about players like Dal Colle, Virtanen or Ritchie instead of Sam Bennett.
I've been finding the OOT scoreboard pretty interesting. Most of the bottom feeders aren't as bad as in previous years. It's a very tight race for the playoffs AND very tight race at the bottom. I find both interesting at the moment.

It has been a good game so far. Grubauer has been terrific in net for the Capitals as the Kings have taken 31 shots at him to 15 by the Capitals at Quick who is back from his injury. Kopitar scored a shorthanded goal late in the first period and the Capitals Burkovsky ties it with 49 seconds left in the second period.

We have had a few too many lost seasons. We should not have a routine for what to do in those situations.
But the bigger issue with your post - sounds like you are cheering for the Oilers to win?

The Lightning and Sharks are tied 1-1 midway through the second period. Callahan scored late in the first period for the Bolts and Ward tied it up early in the second period.
The Jets are losing 2-0 after two periods. The Hurricanes have a 22-8 edge in shots.

Good god yes. Does anybody want them to have another top 3-5 draft pick? I definitely don't. I'd love for them to go on a nice run right now and fool themselves into thinking they've got their problems solved.
Who wants the Leafs or Oilers drafting #1 this year? BARF. It's the time of the year I cheer for them so they get crappier draft picks.

Edmonton deserves to feel the pain of 9th place for a few years.

I hate when people say there is no pride in wanting the team you cheer for to finish last. This year the flames are bad, like thy suck bad. I'd rather draft a really good young player and get better sooner then finish with pride and draft another non impact player. And before you say "that worked for the oilers" or something like that, do you really think the flames management group is as idiotically bad as them? The flames have drafted really good players with the 2 high picks thy got, I trust them to do it again. Finishing low and getting a high draft pick this year would improve this team in the next year or two. Finishing with pride and drafting 12-15 will keep the team a bubble team long term.

I would play Ortio and Nakladal every game from now on. Plus maybe a few more young guys.
Not tanking but playing with no fear of losing, trying different styles and line combinations and build the team at the same time. Its a rare opportunity to try whatever they want. And hey if they do well and finish 5th or 6th last, so be it.

Man the New Jersey retro jerseys are amazing.
Too bad cbj lost in ot but at least they got a point. I'd love Marchand on this team.
