Well, that limits their ability to do any trades where they pick up more bodies than they trade away (not that that was likely), make additional waiver pickups, or do late signings of college players (I don't know if they are in that spot either).

Probably the only team in the NHL that he would be upgrade over other players.

So in that light, it's a good pick up for them at least for stop gap. At this point being dead last in the West again, I am impressed (startled) that they are still trying to improve. Usually by now, they would be in full tank mode.

so he went from the team that eventually won the stanley cup to the oilers in just under a year

trade to canucks would have been 1 year ago this coming friday (jan 29, 2015)

ouch... that's a sucky year!!

I thought Clendening had potential. But obviously not. Generally if Chicago moves on from you its usually because they know that they eventually cant afford you, but Edmonton? Time to consider a new career.
