February 2nd, Groundhog day! 12 freaking games!
5 pm Mountain:
Toronto @ Boston
NY Rangers @ New Jersey
Minnesota @ NY Islanders
Montreal @ Philadelphia
Ottawa @ Pittsburgh
5:30 pm Mountain
Florida @ Washington
6 pm Mountain
St. Louis @ Nashville
Dallas @ Winnipeg
7 pm Mountain
Chicago @ Colorado
Columbus @ Edmonton
L.A. @ Arizona
8 pm Mountain
San Jose @ Anaheim
Plenty of early games to choose from, but might I suggest a battle of two first place teams, the Capitals and Panthers. Should be a fun game. IIRC, the seasons series is tied at 1 game all.
The late game to watch will likely be Columbus at Edmonton, as McJesus makes his miraculous resurrection uh, er, return to the lineup tonight.

Beautiful pass by Bjugstad on a 5 on 3 power play for the Panthers. 2-0 for Florida.
Lots and lots of penalties called in this game. Almost the entire first period played on the power play for either team.

Stempniak just keeps putting up points. Wish he was still in Calgary. Even before this year I liked him far more than Raymond, Bollig and maybe even Stajan.

You're not exactly setting the bar very high here.

Jesus...already the 8th penalty call in the 1st period between the Caps and Panthers. Nothing of the violent variety either. All interference or stick fouls.
I think the league had a meeting with the officials over the all star break.

To be fair, I said those are the guys I prefer him over before this year, when he was bouncing around on PTOs. With the way he's playing this year I'd take him over everyone but Monahan, Gaudreau, Brodie, Giordano, Hamilton and Bennett.

Now 4-0 for Florida. Trocheck scored on a cheapie that Grubauer would like to have back. Later Huberdeau scored his 2nd of the game on a shot that was bar-down.
Caps 0-6 on the power play tonight. That's the #1 power play in the league BTW.

Agreed.
They'll have some holes to fill when the over 35 crew of Jagr, Mitchell, Campbell, Luongo, and to a lesser extent Thornton all move on and retire, but the biggest hole they'll have to fill is Luongo's. No real goalie prospect in the system right now, so I imagine they'll look to fill the void from the outside if they don't draft the next great goalie over the next 2 drafts.
Core is:
Huberdeau-Barkov-X
Trocheck-Bjugstad-Smith
Howden-X-Shaw
X-X-X
Ekblad-X
Kulikov-X
Gudbranson-Petrovic
X
They have Matheson and McCoshen on the way for defense, so really they only need a top line right wing to replace Jagr to remain competitive.

February 2nd, Groundhog day! 12 freaking games!
Blue Jackets scored on a 2-on-1, on just their second shot of the game.
Edmonton is no good.
