Kadri scored in the 1st on pretty much the only chance to score for the Leafs in that period.

Phaneuf with a hit from behind on Quentin Howden knocked him out of the game. Kulikov jumped him and Phaneuf went to the dressing room with some sort of injury or issue. Thankfully Howden is back in the game, but that's the 3rd dirty play from the Leafs so far in this game.

Barkov makes the Leafs pay for Phaneuf being an idiot on a power play breakaway.

1-1 Leafs and Panthers.

Trocheck capitalizes on another power play on a nice give and go with Jokinen. 2-1 Panthers.

Trocheck is quietly having a very good first full season with 14 goals and 26 points.

carolina's thrashing of Chicago is making me feel less bad about the flames lost to Carolina

Breakdown for the Leafs on a line change leads to a 2 on 1 with Reilly Smith and Jokinen, with Jokinen potting the goal into a wide open cage.

3-1 Panthers.

Wow. What's gotten into the Canes? They are absolutely demolishing the Blackhawks 5-0 in the 3rd.

Reilly Smith scores on a rebound to make it 4-1 for the Panthers. He now has a 4 game goal scoring streak and 2 points on the night.

Panthers have 4 goals without a point from Huberdeau or Jagr, their top 2 scorers. Nice showcase of depth tonight.

Hawks are just going through the same multi-game lull following their 12 game winning streak that Florida went through. They'll be just fine in another game or two, or when they get home.

Alex Petrovic scores his first NHL goal on a very weak point shot that Reimer should have stopped. Kind of ugly actually. 5-1 Panthers.

Alex Petrovic gets his first NHL goal as he beats a surprised Reimer on a shot from the side boards. 5-1 Panthers over Leafs.

Another rookie hat trick tonight. Nik Ehlers has 3 through 2 periods in Winnipeg.

Byfuglien has the other two for the Jets as they lead 5-1 after 2.

Can he put in two more in the third to win someone in Saskatchewan or Manitoba a million bucks?

The Ducks with an impressive road win, 6-2 over the Bruins. The Bruins led 1-0 and then the Ducks literally took over.

The Penguins win 2-0, Crosby with a power play goal.

Roy maybe suiting up as backup tonight. Varly has court to attend too. Berra still hurt. Pickard game time decision.

Eichel is playing very well as he has two goals as the Sabres have a 3-2 lead in the third period. Kane opened the scoring for Buffalo.

That makes it sound like he might be starting, never mind backing up. If Pickard can't go, who else is available?

Panthers win 5-1.

Roberto Luongo is now 7th all time in wins for goaltenders.

Panthers have a 3 game winning streak heading into the all-star break, and they sit comfortably on top of the Atlantic division with 63 points. 5 points ahead of Detroit and 6 points ahead of Boston with equal games played.

And just for fun, on Dec. 5th the Montreal Canadiens led the Panthers by 15 points. After tonight, the Panthers now lead the Canadiens by 11 points, meaning there was a 26 point turn around between these two teams. In short, Panthers are good and Montreal is not.
