He's still unproven in my eyes with his long poor spell earlier this year but it's not like the oilers are going to find better on the ufa market. Makes 1.45 now...
3-3.5 would be value
4ish fair
Anything more than 4.5 would be an overpay

Friedman reckons $3.5m AAV. So fair value?

I would say that's fair value. He is not proven to be a number #1 but you're not breaking the bank. I would take him on the Flames with that contract.

I'll need to compare stats, but suspect Talbot has similar career numbers to Ramo, even with the benefit of playing for the Rangers for significant portion
Both are ok goalies, neither will take you far

To be fair, the way he's played its a pretty fair deal. He's single handedly won a lot of games for a terrible hockey team.
You saw it last night.

Good deal for Talbot and the Oilers. Not much to complain about.

Outside of the NMC, I think it's a decent deal.

Somewhat fair deal, but I'd rather have someone like Gillies develop into a franchise goalie that can actually accomplish something.

Good move by the oilers as he is the only person keeping their games close this year

Why would anyone playing for the Oilers want a no movement clause?

Why would a goalie sign a long term contract to play behind that team, is the only question I have.
If it wasn't for Talbot last nights game is a laugh fest after the first, and he made several big saves after that.

Edmonton hate aside, with their new core of McDavid, Draisaitl, Hall and Nurse - they're undeniably playing much better this year and trending in the right direction.
Yes, they're in last in the West - but ask yourself where we would be if Gaudreau had been out since late October?
