Florida putting it on the Hawks like we did to them after their win streak was ended. No Crawford for the Hawks in that one but still looking like a beat-down.

The Red Wings have a 2-0 lead late in the third period.

The Islanders lead 3-2 over the Senators.

Florida needed a big performance, been flat since just before the winning streak ended. Looks like having a few days to recharge has really done them good.

Having their best defender back helps too. That flat stretch coincided with his injury.

Steen scores late in the second period, 1-0 Blues after two periods.

Pretty dominant performance by the Panthers ending up with a 4-0 victory over one of the best and hottest teams in the league. However, Chicago really didn't show up tonight, and it was probably one of their poorest efforts of the year, but I'll let The Foss answer that one.

However, I must add that there was this beautiful hit by Gudbranson on Teravainen. Hard, clean, and entertaining. You just don't see this much in the game anymore.

The Senators had a 2-1 lead but the Islanders scored four unanswered goals including three in the third period. The Islanders win 5-2.

So St. Louis was leading the Avs 1-0 in the 3rd, and with less than a minute left, Mackinnon scores to tie it with the goalie pulled. That was the Avs 7th goal scored with the goalie pulled this year.

Who do they think they are, the 2014/15 Flames?

To be fair, the 14/15 Flames were the 2013/14 Avs

Also, I forgot to mention it, but it was another sellout tonight in South Florida. 19343 in attendance. Building was loud too.

Avalanche win in a shootout, coming back to beat the Blues. Varlamov stops all 3 shooters including Tarasenko. Avs now just 1 point behind Minnesota and ahead of Nashville.

Not bad after a terrible start to the year. If they were in the Pacific they would be 2nd in the division.

That was deja vu for Mackinnon, he did the same thing 16 days ago against the Blues at the Pepsi Centre. He tied the game with 89 seconds left in regulation time. Barrie assisted on both of these goals, now that is a bizarre.

How can that be possible? The three sections behind the benches were still very empty. The middle section in particular was about 75% empty. This is midway into the 2nd.

Edit: Actually by the third period the sections were up to about 80% filled.
Do they let fans move down late in the game or something?

So this is an oddity for the Panthers. They've designed that section directly behind the benches to be designated as "Club Lexus". The seats there give fans exclusive access to a large lounge area with very comfortable seating, great food, wait staff, and a full bar. What happens is a lot of fans take their time getting back to their seats after intermission, or just stay in the lounge and watch the game from there. It's kind of like a giant, super comfy suite. There are seats attached to it, but they're not always used for the whole game. These seats are also very, very expensive, and you often see much more casual fans buy these tickets more for a nice night out than to actually watch hockey intently. It's a pretty interesting marketing idea, but it does affect atmosphere to be sure.

http://panthers.nhl.com/club/page.htm?id=99498

So here's the thing, the camera is often pointed at that section directly behind the benches, so on TV it almost always looks half empty, even though every seat has been paid for and fans are in the building. For example, my seats are 2 rows behind that section and there wasn't a free seat to be seen anywhere near me. Trust me when I say that building was incredibly full last night. The only spots where I saw empty seats were at the very back of the rafter level seats. It always looks much, much worse on tv than it ever does in person.

See that red area? That's Club Lexus, formerly known as Club Red. That's all you ever get to see on TV. Your screenshot pretty much captured that entire red area.

Cali...I DID predict THIS, in an earlier thread: "B2B with the FLA teams on Thurs and Fri...I expect that the current streak will come to an end there...The 'Hawks seem to not always bring the intensity to non-O-6 East Conference Road games. "

A pair of non-conference road clunkers was consistent to the past decade's historical performances...
