After two periods
Islanders lead 3-2
Hurricanes lead 2-1
The Devils and Blues are tied 1-1 and the Sabres have a 1-0 lead, both games are in the first period.
The Hurricanes are getting better as the season progresses.

The Predators-Blackhawks game has a good pace and is not boring.

Justin Schultz gets wind of possible trade talks and promptly scores his 3rd of the season to impress potential suitors.

Tyler Myers is going to be getting a call from the Department of Player Safety. He just got a 5 minute major for cross checking Wingels in the back of the head. Sharks are winning 2-1 in the 3rd. Wheeler apparently ties it up short handed but it is called back as he tripped Stalock.

pretty iffy calls in Winnipeg - 2 minutes for Myers sure - but the tripping call on Wheeler was garbage

I much as I hate the Oilers, I wish Arizona would lose along with them. I think professional sports should be entertaining to the paying fans and they are doing a disservice to them by playing this brand of hockey.
If every team played a boring style of hockey just to win then there wouldn't be a fan base for the sport therefore no jobs for the players, coaches etc.

A real catch 22 for the Dogs over the last number of years: they need to win in order to build their fanbase, but due to budget (and other constraints), the only way they have a chance of winning is by playing stifling D, which is mind-numbingly boring and does nothing to build the fanbase.

The Blackhawks jumped out to a 3-0 lead. Shaw scored the first two goals and Hossa assisted on both of them. Ribeiro scored 18 seconds later to get the Predators on the board, 3-1 Chicago and it is now in the third period.
The Sabres also jumped out to a 3-0 lead and that was in the first period. Kane with an assist and his team scored two goals in twenty seconds. Suter scored a shorthanded goal to get the Wild on the board in the second period. It is 3-1 late in the third period.
The Lightning have done the same, 3-0 lead in the second period. Palat has three points and the last two goals were from Stamkos assisted from Palat and Namestnikov.

I absolutely agree. I remember when we hired Jay and Hartley. They talked about playing fast entertaining Hockey. Even know we were not that good most fans from my understanding enjoyed the hockey.

When they replaced Sutter with Hartley, it was like someone finally drew the curtains back and let the sunshine in!

Hartley's system is very entertaining but I don't want to over praise it as sometimes it could use a (Darryl)Sutter tweak here and there on the fly to help us win more games.

I don't disagree. In fact, while I love the open offense and skating, his passive defensive coverage makes me physically ill.
Just saying that it was an incredibly nice change from the perpetual clouds of the Sutter era (and way more fun for the fans, which is where this started)

Speaking of passive defensive coverage the Oilers are poised to move within a point of the Flames. I'm conflicted of what's better for the Flames as an Oilers win at least keeps 2nd in the division a possibility but it's kind of gross to think the Oilers could surpass the Flames in the standings.
Edit: Wouldn't you know it the moment I click send the Coyotes score.
