Default CPS Find Stolen Goods Tunnel

CPS have found a 10m long tunnel in a guy's back yard that was full of about $100,000 worth of stolen stuff. They've also now got an online gallery of a lot of the found items, and are hoping to reunite them with their proper owners.

Good old Queensland. The community that gave Deer Run the slogan 'At least we're not Queensland'.

Only the worse type of people steal skis from ski resorts.

Seriously though. That has to be the strongest honour code out there.

Not necessarily stolen from resorts, probably out of garages like the bikes. Speaking of which, he is a bike thief, so should probably be forced to spend 10 years in his tunnel. To bad we don't have contextual punishment...

Wow, this guy has just got to be a kleptomaniac, most of this crap is junk.

An ancient radio? A cracked mp3 player? An old Motorola digital box? You cant give this crap away.

This is probably just all the junk he couldn't sell and didn't want to get caught with at the dump.

Why the hell would anyone steal an off-brand MP3 player that appears to be broken? For what discernible purpose?

And then not only steal it, but hide it away in some elaborate tunnel of stolen goods?

I'm thinking this guy has other problems on the go in addition to weird item stealing and backyard tunneling

For sure. Most dirtbags would just try and flip it, this guy keeps it underground.... Maybe thinks he's being clever and hoarding it until the heat dies down? Definitely something wrong with him though.

Some planning went into it though. Too bad he didn't tunnel his way into an atco gas line

What I don't get is how did CPS determine he had an elaborate underground lair?

Sure, his backyard is a disaster. Lots of people are constantly renovating or landscaping.

What was the one tip that allowed them to proceed with a warrant and show up with what appears to be the entire Calgary SWAT unit?

I bet the tunel was a surprise, they probably figured he was just a normal B&E suspect
