Flames Jersey Poll 2016 - All Time #1

I saw this a few years back and thought it'd be a neat idea to do, say in 2016, when our young stars were beginning to mature.

The way I see it, the Flames have had five generations of players:

The 80s - Greats
The 90s/Early 2000s - Middle of the pack
2004-2009 - Stars
2010-2013 - Awful
2014-present - Rising stars

It's fun to compare players from different generations, and to see which generations' players stand out. So, keeping in the tradition of the circa 2014 threads, I thought I'd create a new set of polls to recognize the best players to have donned each number for the Flames.

Rules:

- I won't put in players for numbers they aren't well-known for (IE: Iginla (24), Lombardi (49))
- Vote honestly
- Have fun!

To steal a guideline from the old thread:
I pick off a key group of players for each jersey. I don't use every name, as that gets tedious and unnecessary (probably go with 5-7 unless there are many that wore the same number).

We start with #1.

My vote:

Roman Turek

Do you think 7 players is too many?

The #1 all time jersey is the Blackhawks with honorable mention to the Habs, Trail Smoke Eaters and Team Sweden.

Wait, I think I missed the point...

I remember Reggie as #31......I haven't looked it up yet, but did he wear #1 for a significant amount of time (or at all)?

Maybe not as long as I thought, but he wore #1 with the Flames from 1978 - 1981.

Thanks, I see he did where #1 (not trying to nitpick ), I think he wore 31 more, and later in his career as you have suggested

I think Atlanta Flames should count here, as long as they also played with Calgary.

I liked Reggie ("Let-em-in"), but there were times he seemed to be a deer in the headlights against the Oilers.
Turek was better.

The lead is now tied. Turek and Lemelin both with 41%.

I'm incredibly impressed you know of the Smokies.

I can't vote for any of them. They are all terrible.

Sure, but which one was the least terrible?

Don't know much about Lemelin but Hiller was the winning goalie in a very important playoff series last year. +1 Hiller.

Turek actually brought a shred of respectability to a young, mediocre franchise in the early 2000's - that's why I picked him.

He also had one year where he had a 30-28-11 record on a team that only won 32 games. It has to be him, IMO.
