Larkin with a filthy deke on Schneider, now the leading rookie goalscorer.

That first period goal is holding up so far as it remains 1-0 Red Wings after two periods.

Hope the Canes smash the Oilers and the Coyotes hammer the Canucks.

Wow, Schneider bit hard on that move! Larkin has been very impressive this year, another Red Wings Draft steal, sigh...

Feels like Detroit rarely misses with their first round picks... Always drafting in the 15-30th overall range too.

Detroit's 1st round picks in the last 10 years:

2015 Evgeny Szechnikov
2014 Dylan Larkin
2013 Anthony Mantha
2010 Riley Sheahan
2008 Tom McCollum
2007 Brendan Smith
2005 Jakub Kindl

I would venture that virtually every other team in the league has done better.

Perception is always funny though.

Edit: last big hit was Kronwall in 2000

I don't think the oilers have had a real siding chance yet

By comparison, here is Carolina's (yes, they typically draft earlier, but still..)

2015 Noah Hanifin
2014 Haydn Fleury
2013 Elias Lindholm
2011 Ryan Murphy
2010 Jeff Skinner
2009 Philippe Paradis (the only bust)
2008 Zach Boychuk
2007 Brandon Sutter
2005 Jack Johnson
2004 Andrew Ladd
2003 Eric Staal

how can they be as bad as they are?

They were given one scoring chance in the 1st and Remenda admitted that was being really generous.

Watching this Oilers game, there's one thing that I really can't stop thinking to myself...

Thank God I'm not an Oilers fan.

Daniel Sedin just lost a bunch of teeth. Gloved puck right in the chicklets.

The Red Wings hang on for the 1-0 victory, Mrazek with the shutout.

The Blues were up 2-0, but, the Senators finally showed some offense with a pair of power play goals. It is 2-2 midway through the third period.

Midway through the second period it is scoreless in the Kings-Avalanche and Hurricanes-Oilers games.

I was trying to remember if those were already gone, but I didn't think so. Give him credit for not laying down like he was shot, and he hung out on the bench for a while too. No idea why neither he nor his brother have mouth guards.
