Does she want to play it specifically on N64, or just play Ocarina of Time? Cause the 3DS version is a great upscaled port, and probably the easiest/most accessible way to do it.

I should have mentioned that, she wants to play on the couch at a big screen. Reminds her of good old family time in the day.
PC is 2nd best option.

Your options are N64 / Gamecube / Wii / Wii U. If you don't own any of those consoles, there are tons of Wii systems out there for cheap, and you can still purchase games on the Virtual Console. Ocarina of Time is $10.00 I believe, and you'd need either a Gamecube controller or Wii Classic Controller. I actually really like the Classic Controller and Classic Controller Pro, so I have no issues suggesting it to you.
If you wanted to play on the N64 for the authentic experience, I imagine the game cartridge still goes for quite a bit, so that could end up being a more costly option.
As for the PC, I don't know how many N64-like PC controllers are out there, so you're likely making some kind of compromise to play it on an emulator. You also get to deal with all the extra setup to get it going if you've never used an N64 emulator before. In my experience at least, it's not simply "open program -> go hog wild".
EDIT: Forgot to mention that on the Wii and Wii U Virtual Console are a TON of excellent games, so I imagine you'd get more than one game worth out of your purchase if you did end up going that route. I've never been much of an emulator guy myself so I definitely value the console experience more than most.

N64 looks like trash these days on new TV's but if you want the authentic game an N64 with Ocarina could be found for about $100. I suggest either an emulator for the graphics boost and pick up a USB N64 controller or a Wii/WiiU VC version with a classic controller.
Edit:
I forgot about the 3DS version, if no big screen is required go this route for sure

You could purchase my N64 from me, along with a suite of awesome games, for a totally reasonable (exorbitant) price!

Buy her a 3DS.
Bought my wife a DS back in the day, she loved it. Got a 3DS XL and the minute she saw Mario she, and my two burly teenage boys, immediately asked if they could get one too.
The DS and 3DS Zelda games are amazing. Phantom Hourglass is one of the most innovative games ever in how it gets you to use the DS features.
I buy all my razors and toiletry stuff at shoppers when they have mega optimum points, then use the points to get crap like this for free (probably because I get ripped off on the razors, LOL).

Well looks like I'm going to best buy after work and getting a Wii U with a classic pro controller. Kinda get the best of both worlds.
Thought about getting a N64 off Craigslist, but it would just look like crap on a smartTV, and I'm not going to look for a used tube TV and have to hire a crew of men to bring it up the stairs for me.
Funny, I was just bashing consoles in the other tech threads haha.

My options would be playing it on the Wii-U, using my original Xbox with the Big-ass Emulator Disc to play on the TV, or using a PC emulator.

It's been settled. I'm getting the Wii U. Had a couple hundred bucks left over on a Best Buy gift card, so I'm picking it up tonight after work.
I don't want to be bothered with emulators. I just don't like the functionality most of the time.

The two N64 Zelda games work fine in an emulator (Project64). For the controller, you can get N64 USB knockoff controllers for $20 on Amazon.
The emulated versions play in 1080p, 60fps with AA and AF, which makes them look significantly better.
I was just playing some WCW vs NWO Revenge this way the other night.

Since you are getting a WiiU, you should probably pick up Mario Kart, and Wind Waker looks really good in HD, though some don't like the game. Captain Toad Treasure Tracker is a good puzzle game. Have i spent all your money yet? Better download the Prime trilogy as well.

She turned down the emulator proposal.
Although I love that old wcw vs nwo game.

On the same sort of subject (sorry to steal your thread, CroFlames!), my wife's all-time favourite game is the original NES version of Super Mario Bros.
We've got an old Wii stashed in the basement, and we dug it out once to play the new-fangled Wii version of Super Mario, but she didn't like it as much, lol. I found a PC emulator version of the original too, but now she wants to play it on an NES controller, or at least, not on a keyboard.
I haven't looked into the Wii virtual console thing much, is that going to be the best option? (Especially since we have a Wii already)

I've got my old NES and SNES in my travel trailer so I can play while camping if we get rained out.
All last year, we didn't get more than a couple hours of rain so I never got to try it out.
Final Fantasy will have to wait.

If you have a Wii already, that's the best bet. Just buy the VC version, and use the Wiimote sideways. It's probably better than the NES controller. Less painful after long sessions!

I can't believe I bought a $300 console to play a $10 16 year old game, LOL.
The missus is happy though, and as the saying goes....
That Mario builder game looks pretty sick actually so I think I'll get my money's worth out of the WiiU. Hopefully it comes down in price a little though

Most first party Nintendo games take years to drop price, so if you want it, just buy it. You aren't going to find a sale on it, unless you look used.
