I was wondering when a thread was going to be started about the poor play of Giordano.
It took longer than I expected.

Gio playing about the worst hockey in his career. Even when Gio was young in the 3rd pairing he played with less errors and better decisions.
Clearly this injury has messed his timing up. He is working out there but struggling big time.

Gio and Wideman have been consistently our worst defencemen, yet they keep playing 20+ min a game. I don't care if they're wearing letters. How do you expect to provide leadership when you're costing the team with your play itself? You can have King Leonidas levels of inspiration but if you're playing like #### you probably shouldn't be on the ice.
Hartley needs to show he's willing to stick his two most expensive defencemen and two locker room leaders in the pressbox when they're not performing up to scratch.

I disagree. He is making horrible decisions with the puck, has nothing to do with timing. Also has little to no confidence by the looks of it.

I posted this after a group lunch with Burke last week but he did make some extremely positive comments about Gio. Acknowledged that he is in a slump but his leadership and what he does off the ice is right up there with any captains Burke has had.
Captaincy goes beyond the play on ice and if we look at Gios play as the captain he has been extremely good. Everyone goes through a slump and I have no doubt Gio busts out of his soon. I personally think he is trying to do too much instead of making the quick safe play as he is shouldering the teams struggles.

No choice for him but to turn it around. Big contract coming up, and Flames aren't going to trade him at this nadir.
This drastic drop in quality of his play is puzzling.

Gio had a longer streak of terrible play two years ago and recovered. Let's hope he can do it again.

I've seen posts in the past wondering if he is still playing hurt. I didn't pay much attention to them before. Now i hope those posters are right. If he is still hurt, and the flames are not in contention for a playoff spot come Feb/March, i would have no problem if they shut him down for the rest of the year. Rather he be healthy for 2016/1017 season.

That was always going to be an awful contract, 2 good seasons while in his 30's and he gets that deal. 9th highest paid dman in the NHL next season.
