@SunGarrioch lots of buzz about major moves being made in Dallas. Sources close to the situation are advising me to not sleep on this rumour. #iveNeverbrokenATradeBefore

Spezza or the Avs GM is out of work? That's tough, but fair.

@JayOnriat the Dallas streets run yellow with vomit as The Stars have apparently done the unthinkable. Little children crying, questioning all they've ever believed in.

@TheInternet details finally emerging: MAF and a 3rd to Dallas for Bernier, Brodin and Ho-sang. Low point for the Dallas franchise.

@CPHL GM Slava early favourite for GM of the year after unloading MAF, who is terrible at hockey.

I think two days ago a wise GM told me to remind Fleury it's not the playoffs yet. Maybe that will work?
For the Preds this is a high risk, high reward deal. Bernier has to go elsewhere and become a starter. Brodin is a 22yo top four dman. Who knows what happens with Ho-Sang...maybe an amazing top line talent, maybe a total busy who never plays a meaningful game.
Overall, thanks to Dallas for the talks and deal. I fully expect to get flamed for this deal, but when Bernier winds up in Calgary I will be vindicated!

I believe in the Pony Power

Some risk here for the Preds but some really good upside. I think Ho-Sang is a loon but I really like Brodin and I think Bernier is still an adequate #1.

Even deal, Preds take on some risk here but are compensated by getting Brodin. Hosang is about to join Schremp in Europe.

I like the deal for Dallas. I think Bernier will be bounced around as a 1b type. He can't seem to put together a decent stretch that lasts any length of time. I also think that Brodin is a great defensive D who any NHL team would take in a heartbeat I'm just not sure he can become a good sim guy.
That being said Fluery needs a good NHL season and playoffs or I could see the Pens looking for a cheaper option. Ho-sang is an all world talent with a pre school brain. So if he can somehow put it together than look out.
Will be an interesting deal to look back at as it could go either way. I'll give the edge to Dallas right now because my personal philosophy is never trade a legit starter without getting one back.

Here is how i looked at the deal
- My goaltending situation was not shaping up as planned for next season. Lehner is injured and wont get the games needed for a starter rating, Hammond is hammond and Bernier is off to a rough start. If bernier cannot turn it around then id be looking at my best goalie being a mid 70 rating next year which a) isnt good enough b) makes it very hard to upgrade to a starter.
- I really like Brodin but he is not developing the 2-way game i hoped for. He is being passed by Spurgeon on the Wild Depth chart. He is looking like a very good minute eating defensive defensman but typically, those assets are easier and cheaper to attain in the CHPL compared to more rounded or offensive players.
-Risolainens progression factored into this as well.
-Bernier was my backup this season already due to sim performance
-Brodin was my #5 dman
-Ho-sang is risk/reward; anyone's guess right now.
Historically, i have not cared to have a 10M goalie...Im not sure you really need one. That said, we'll try it out for a bit and see how it fits. I do feel a lot better about my position in net heading into next season and beyond.
lastly, MAF is someone i strongly dislike so this move was done only for ratings and posturing.
thanks again Vic.

I predict that if Dallas and Colorado play in the playoffs that Fleury stands on his head and the stars win.

I definitely agree with the comments here regarding Bernier and the risks with him. The thing is I have Mrazek waiting in the wings as well, so really if Bernier is only a solid 1b that works out for my long term needs. That and Fleury just couldn't perform here despite a rating that you would think would make him awesome. So I threw caution to the wind in some ways and too the downgrade in net to add Borodin to my defence, which I have to say is pretty awesome once Keith comes back.
I also add Ho-Sang, who may wind up in the KHL. Then again he could be the best player not in the NHL, and we all know Feaster will bring him to Tampa in that case!
Overall it was just a deal that makes sense for both teams I think. Could work out well for both of us, or just not as good as we hope, but not likely catastrophic.
