Retired Nascar driver Greg Biffle killed in an airplane crash in North Carolina this a.m. His wife, 2 kids and 3 other passengers also died in the crash. Sad day for all racing fans. RIP.

Dang. It's always crazy when racecar drivers survive a dangerous career and then succumb to a different kind of accident

F1 legend Graham Hill survived an incredibly dangerous era of the sport and then died in a plane crash.

Similar for Carlos Pace, though he was only 32 and still active when he died in a plane crash.

And of course Schumacher became paralyzed from skiing.

I'm sure there's a bunch of other examples, too.

Sounds like they had some serious issues and were returning to the airport, they were so close to making it back.
