Buffalo/Columbus trade

Buffalo trades:
Manny Malhotra
Bobby Ryan
1.75 mil cheese

to Columbus for:
Colin Wilson
Jake DeBrusk

This is one of those short term vs long term deals. Malhotra is a great FO man but he is a million years old and I wouldn't be re-signing him at the end of the year even if he doesn't retire. I replaced him with youth in Jake DeBrusk. Love this kid's game. He is a ways away from the NHL for now but I see big things for him in the future.

Losing Bobby Ryan hurts a bit. He is at the top of the league in goals and points for a RW and has great chemistry right now with his line in Buffalo. Hell, he scored a hat trick last night just to rub it in. He is a 72 OV and Colin Wilson is a 70 OV. With Wilson I get younger and a better contract. Plus I like him, always have, and that's what makes the sim fun for me... having guys on your team that you like.

Also made a deal with Minnesota to bring in:

Rob Klinkhammer for a 2016 5th.

Looks like a pretty even deal. I think I prefer Ryan over Wilson and DeBrusk as I think Ryan is still a Top 3 guy in the league and Wilson in my mind will always be a solid #2 guy...

Don't know enough about DeBrusk to say one way or another.

Columbus is very happy to welcome in Bobby Ryan and Manny Malhotra.
While it hurts giving up Colin Wilson and a young prospect like Debrusk, I felt that I couldn't pass up the opportunity to get Ryan in his prime.

Nice trade. Pretty even. I personally like Wilson more. But value wise it's a good deal for both.
