Question If Hartley is fired, who would replace him?

I want to start off by saying I don't believe Hartley deserves to be fired, but we all know how pro-sports has a results driven evaluation of coaches, so it's entirely possible that Bob and crew are let go if this team continues to get blown out.

My question is simple, so please keep the discussion to only this question.

Which available coaching candidate(s) do you feel would be a good replacement and why?

I also included a poll of the 3 most qualified available candidates for those that want to vote on some of the obvious choices.

Those are all better alternatives to Hartley, in your opinion?

Don't forget to include the "why" part of the discussion. Names are great, but I want some reasoning here too.

Guy wins coach of the year and is let go before 25% of the season is over?

I don't see it.

How many times has this team been blown out this year? 8?

If this keeps up, I could see it happening. It may not be deserved, but that's the life of an NHL coach.

I think he earned this season. I do say the Flames step back and evaluate how this year has gone over the summer. If this level of play continues until year end, take the pick, see who the options are and make a decision.

I don't think Hartley is entitled past this season.

I think If the Flames finish bottom 5 he will be let go at the end of the season.

I've always liked Carlyle. I thought he was in an unwinnable situation in Toronto, and they were much worse after he was let go. He even managed to get that awful team in the playoffs in the lockout shortened season.

He got a bad rap from the fishbowl media in Toronto, but he had enormous success with Anaheim before arriving there.

If I had to choose someone else to coach the team, it'd probably be Carlyle (Burke knows him well too). That being said, I like Hartley a lot and I doubt Carlyle is an upgrade on him, just a different yet equally capable choice.

Winning coach of the year would be more meaningful if the people who decided the winner had some manner of exceptional qualification to decide that honor. I've always thought that the award should be determined by NHL coaches (i.e. all the coaches get a vote with the only limitation being that you can't vote for someone employed by the same organization as you).

As for who... I would appoint one of the Assistent Coaches or Huska as Interim Coach and wait until later to hire someone. No to the former Burke cronies listed.
