Guessing maintenance for Wideman. Smid skating in his place as they go through pairings. Giordano-Smid;
Brodie-Russell;
Engelland-Hamilton.

@TSNJFranklin: Coach Hartley having a chat w Backlund Probably telling him it's time to wake up a step up. Just my guess #Flames https://t.co/KnAdnbQ04s

The guy that got waived is now back up and starting ahead of Ortio in consecutive games....wonder how that affects Ortio's mindset.

Shouldn't be a surprise to him after his stinkers vs NYI and Habs. All he had to do was not be terrible, and not lose us the game. Well, here we are.
He's likely to be on waivers next unless he pulls out a win before Hiller gets back. And he'd clear too

When Ortio wins and/or doesn't allow 6 goals, he can start consecutive games.

This pretty much. Ortio got his fair shot and he stunk up the joint.
Granted, to be fair its not all on him the team has been atrocious but at least Hartley is consistent. Win and you're in.
Besides if Ramo plays the way he did against the Oilers against any team that hasnt re-defined 'suck' for the past decade then Ortio will get his shot sooner rather than later.

I'm guessing that Ortio is rational/reasonable enough for this not to affect his mindset.

One would hope that his mindset is that he realizes the next time he starts all he has to do is play well enough to back stop the team to a win and that will result in more starts.

I don't disagree with your post. But it needs to be said that he got his 'fair shot' of two starts after almost 4 weeks of inactivity.

Oh I agree, and thats an issue that Hartley is going to have to deal with.
Kipper needed a run of games to get into his groove and he'd let a few softies in himself, its entirely possible that Ramo, Hiller and Ortio need the same thing and that this contravenes Bob's 'win and you're in' policy.
I have no idea what hes going to do about it.

Talk on the FAN this morning - might have been Wills - that Hartley is getting fed up with that plan.
We could see him run with Ramo here.
And I expect Ortio is sent down as soon as Hiller is healthy.

This.
Jonathon Quick was awful in his first three games.
Hasn't lost since.

I sincerely doubt that.

Agreed. A teams like the Leafs or Sabres would aren't legitimately thinking playoffs this year and either don't have a long term goalie (Leafs) or don't yet know if they have a long term goalie (Sabres) would have to be snoozing to not claim Ortio.

Yeah, half a dozen teams mired in ineptitude would take a flyer on him. There would be no way he clears and he seems to be in the organization's long-term plans.
