This is a systems issue.
Our breakout strategy is awful.
Defensive zone coverage is awful.
Offensive zone strategy is...non-existent because we never have possession long enough to do anything.
We've been scouted and we have no answer for it.
This is no single players fault.

What makes this frustrating is the way they're losing. Just flat out playing dumb offensively and killing themselves.
Shoot the damn puck, and go from there. Just not playing simple, and making life so much more difficult for themselves. They could be so much better, but this has gone on long enough that maybe this is what the Flames will be this year. An awful team.

What a mess of a season. So many players in our forward line-up that are purely meh or below that. Can't contribute to offense all that well, can't defend all that well. Gaudreau is the only dangerous player in the offensive zone. Effort is nice, but it can only get so far. We need guys who can actually put the puck in the net at a semi decent rate.
Goaltending and D need to be better as well.

Would have been fine with this last season. What happened last year changed expectations and accelerated the rebuild especially when they added $10M in new players and didn't lose anyone.
