Are violent video games increasing child violence?

Personally, I think the games are being used as a scapegoat here.

Its not the first time some form of entertainment has been used as scapegoat for violence. Marylin Manson was blamed for the Comumbine shootings. And I think you're right. They are just being used as a scapegoat for violent behavior. Playing video games doesn't turn someone into a bloody killer. They probably had it in them long before playing video games.

They're totally using it as a scapegoat. Just read the mother's comments:

"When one looks at what Warren did to Stephan and looks at the brutality and viciousness of the game, one can see links"

I can see links between the murder and watching an hour of CNN or reading the newspaper. No one wants to blame the person who did the crime.

I bet if I got my hands on a bow and fired an arrow into some random person everyone would blame Eidos and Thief 3.

EDIT: Just read the end of the article. The game is to sold sold to adults (18+) only. The murderer was 17. If they want to blame someone blame the store that illegally sold the game.

Lets put the blame where it really belongs and leave it right at the feet of the parents. The fact is that parents don't keep track of what thier kids are doing anymore and don't setboundries for them.

We saw it in columbine, and we saw it in the Lionel Tate case and we saw it here.

The fact is there are a lot of parents who really don't care what thier kids do as long as they don't get phone calls from the police.

If your worried about video games, ask questions about the games that the kids are playing, if your worried about the violent quality of T.V. shows watch it with your kids.

don't use your T.V. or your computer as a baby sitter because your too busy.

This mother who's making all of these links to manhunt should be looking at herself and her little darling of a child

But she's blaming everything else because its easier to do that.
