Ducks Getzlaf out 4-12 days to undergo an appendectomy

Quote:
Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf has appendicitis and is scheduled to undergo an appendectomy Wednesday in Orange County after feeling intermittent discomfort over the last six weeks, the club said in a statement released Tuesday.

Getzlaf is expected to miss approximately four to 12 days of game action, according to the statement. It is not considered an emergency procedure.
http://www.latimes.com/sports/sports...027-story.html

Getzlaf could miss up to 7 games.

Tough break for the ducks who are off to a 1-5-2 start to the season. What comes first? Does Boudreau get fired or do they make a trade?

The ducks have scored 6 goals in 8 games this season, 4 of which came in their only win.

I doubt that they're going to change coaches at this point. I believe with the ducks that this was just a bad month, but that team is too big and talented not to come out of it.

People said the same thing with the Kings last year. In the end despite a late season surge they dug a hole too big to get out of. The Ducks, and by the same token the Flames are digging a hole so big it wil be very difficult to get out.

The ducks are doing terrible because they lost Belesky

I love Getzlaf the player and the person. Speedy recovery.

Hopefully the Ducks demise give the Flames a chance.

Are we playing in Anaheim in the near future? Cause I'd really like us to take the opportunity and the overall suckage from the Ducks to do some curse breaking... that'd be nice.

People think we need 97 points to make it. No, we need to beat Edmonton, San Jose and Arizona. With Anaheim losing Getzlaf any more losing and they will surely be out. So yeah it does increase our chance. We have to beat 3 non playoff teams to make the playoffs.

Edmonton's way under already with only one more win than us and one more game played (those greasers ain't making it). So that leaves San Jose and Arizona as it's unlikely we'll overtake a wild card spot. I like our chances at gaining 8 points on those 2 teams, they aren't better than us. We can make up that ground purely in the series versus those two teams.

I look at the pacific standings and smh. There's no way the likes of Arizona and Vancouver sit atop this division at season's end. The Sharks are starting to fall after a hot start, now that Couture is out. Edmonton got motivated after beating us and went on a little run, but now are coming back to earth and their normal sucky ways.

The Flames and Ducks have been equally as bad to start, and both are way better than they've shown. People talk about the season being basically a forgone conclusion already, but I just fail to see it. Unfortunate begining, but ebbs and flows...there's just got to be a good run upcoming at some point.

Frick, have Getzlaf in the hockey pool. Hope he makes a speedy recovery.

We don't play the Ducks until Nov. 24 (in Anaheim) so his surgery won't help.

I've had my appendix out, and I would NOT have been able to play hockey 4 days later.

12 days... maybe if I had the best doctors money could buy (like Getzlaf has).
