I don't think he's good enough to command that type of salary. He's more in the TJ Brodie $4.5 million range. His career stats aren't that different from Kris Russell's.

Excellent signing if he stays healthy. Avs have a great #1D locked up and a #3D, but need that #2 to round out their blueline.

Well to be fair, TJ Brodie probably shouldn't be in the 4.5 range as it is

Colorado had no choice, they have him and Barrie and little else. I think Johnson is a solid #2 and really he's not much overpaid for that. Can't compare to Brodie as Johnson's deal bought more UFA years and Johnson had more leverage.

Zadorov could be very good, Beauchemin will be steady for the next couple years.

Zadorov could be good but when? Beauch is getting older and most Anaheim fans felt he was one of their worst dmen down the stretch and into the playoffs. The general feeling with their fans is that he's a good 3/4 at this point but he just doesn't have the legs for big minutes anymore. IMO without Johnson that team has no chance at the playoffs and dealing him for futures is counter productive at this point.

?
--> 27 Years Old with 463 NHL Games experience
--> 21G / 41A over last 127 Games
--> Was paired with Jan Hejda in shutdown role
--> This top pairing led Colorado to a Central Division-win with Johnson as a 25 year old
--> Jan Hejda is currently looking for a job on a PTO.

Johnson's not young, he's in his prime and proven. He's a good #2 and would be the best defenseman Edmonton has has since Pronger or maybe Visnovsky. Incidentally, he would be #4 on Calgary's blueline right now

You were when you compared him to Klefbom. You were probably trying to be funny but it was obvious what you were driving at.
How am I to know if you were being serious or not? Many Edmonton fans are so out of touch with reality it's hard to discern what is a joke, what is serious and what is trolling.

Why is that? I would say their biggest issue is their depth, not Johnson-Barrie-Beauchimen. He's not a true #1 but those are hard to find. if they can somehow find/develop some more guys (like Zadorov) they might be okay with him as the #1.

You didn't straight up say it but it was implied by this comment:

I was assuming you were referencing the 7 year deal a certain young Oiler Dman signed 2 days ago. You know, the one you were tirelessly defending. All that's missing from your original post is one of these:
