Default Speeding ticket in mail

So, one of my friend sister was driving his car 3 weeks back.
Today, he showed me a ticket which he got in his mail . Ticket has a number plate picture on it which is similar to photoradar ticket.

Ticket was issued on his name probably because vehicle was on his name. But it has a name of a issuing officer with Badge number. She was driving 64 in speed limit of 50 and ticket is of 118$.

What I dont get is how they know who is driving in this case. ? Will he get conviction on his record or demerit in case he pays for it choosing voluntary payment ? And, is it normal to get ticket in mail like this issued by officer ?

I thought that the photo radar tickets had an officers name attached to them.

There's no demerits anyways but the fine will stand probably.

Yeah, that's a typical photo radar ticket, and that's a common fine for 14 over. He gets the ticket, but it's just a fine. There's no demerits or anything, as they don't know who was driving the car. Since they don't know who's driving the car, the responsibility for it falls to the registered owner, your friend . He is obliged to pay the ticket. Most folks, when they get a ticket like that, will show it to the friend, who'll reimburse them the cost for the ticket. If your friend's friend doesn't pay him up, he is still obligated to pay the ticket himself and he has to seek redress in small claims court.

No demerit points and it is the registered owner responsibility to pay for the fine unfortunately. He/she can ask the driver to get reimbursed on that fine but good luck on that. It is the reason a lot of car rental places are making you give them your credit card info. I think the only way you can fight the ticket is if the photo radar took a picture of the driver but even then I think they'll still force the registered owner to pay for the fine.

Photo radar goes to the owner of the vehicle cause they can't prove who is driving. That's why they don't attach demerits.

Haha, get the same explanation from each person. They are right. That is super minor too, just needs to pay and get reimbursed from real driver.

14 over is like $100, probably more now. Just tell your friend to treat it as back taxes they owed. It actually kind of is.

I just got the exact same ticket. 14 over in a 60 zone, $118.

I've been robbed at gunpoint before in this city. The kid dropped his own wallet. I bring it to police and they bring the kid in to the station for questioning with his family there to confirm his alibi he was at home, give him the wallet back and no charges. But they have all the time in the world to get their speeding ticket quotas so they can afford their new fleet of chargers or whatever.

What is the offense. There are two offenses for speeding one is driving over the speed limit and the other for photo radar is being the owner of a vehicle that exceeded the speed limit. If they charged you with the wrong thing you could get out of it.

I got a ticket in the mail for having expired plates. The charge was under driving a vehicle with expired plates. I got out of it by saying there is no way to prove who was driving the vehicle at the time. It wasn't actually me at the time. So figure out what you are actually charged with.

Got a ticket for making a left turn and there were other people getting the same ticket that day. I fought and the Crown dismissed the charge right away on court day because it was the wrong charge.

What about the people who paid up and didn't contest? I doubt they'll get their money back.
