Flags at Half Mast
Does anyone know why the Flags are at half mast today?
Someone and myself noticed but don't know the reason why, just wondering if I missed something???

In honor of police and RCMP officers who died on duty. maybe?
Actually I thought it might have been for the second anniversary of the train derailment in Quebec, but that's not it either.
Don't know,

I thought I recently read that a city in Alberta will lower their flags at half mast once a month to commemorate any anniversaries of tragic events instead of having several days each month where the flag is at half mast. This is in addition to events that currently happen, like when the officer was recently killed in Edmonton. That would have been an additional event for half mast. That city was either Calgary or Lethbridge.

Grammatical note:
"Half-mast" is a nautical term for a flag at sea.
"Half-staff" refers to a flag on land.

Where was this flag(s) at half-mast?
I haven't been anywhere where there were any or paid attention i guess if I passed by flags.
City of Calgary referenced they are not aware of any City facilities having the flags at 1/2.

Half-staff is American, because they like to be different. Half mast is correct in Canada.

Not that I know of, I'd usually search Twitter in that case and find the answer. It seems provincial/local half-mastings, if they involve gov't establishments, are posted on the national page.

Soon the Flags will have to be a full mast to denote an even of some sort.
