Flames Fascinating Flames History - THN's "Salute to Calgary" - February 1981
Greetings all! As a teacher enjoying his summer break, I have been meaning to share some items from my personal Flames collection with the CP community. Here is my first contribution.

I bought this copy of The Hockey News from February 1981 off of eBay specifically because of the "Salute to Calgary" feature. There are some fascinating articles written about the Flames' arrival in southern Alberta before the inaugural season had been completed. I hope the following images are clear enough for people to read the text.

I have a couple of ideas for other "Fascinating Flames History" threads that I will try to get to later this summer. I hope you enjoy this, and GO FLAMES GO!

I didn't read the articles, but going through those ads are awesome. Right down to Cowley & Keith. Jerseys for $33? And a crap stereo for $1,699 (includes free headphones).

That Palliser ad is NSFW. Steamy stuff.

It better be! According to the BoC inflation calculator, $1699.00 in 1981 is the equivalent to $4,365.92 today.
